Ok...I'm going to be honest and say that it was good, but not great.

I am a huge fan of the show, but I think subtlety was completely thrown out of the window for the movie. True fans get it without it being so blatantly obvious (the humour that is). It's like they took every trait from each character and completely exaggerated everything...

I also didn't like Jennifer HuRABon in her role...

All felt a bit rushed to me...and Carrie would never take Big back after he did that to her...

Just home form the cinema....wow I loved it, very funny and very well written.

I was crying with laughter in the scene where Charlotte is in the shower and accidentally drinks a bit of the water....which then gives her the....;) So funny!

I've been to see it.

I won't give details away if people don't want me too:D.
There is an ice-cream bag that Lilly has I must get my little girl.

No one dies

8/10

My youngest has gone to see it tonight.
Tickets are selling well here. She just rang to say they had to go to a later showing as the earlier time had sold out.

Am going to see it tonight - booked ut 30 seats for my mates birthday and we are all going as characters - going to be a mad one methinks!!

So Samantha splits up with Smith? Oh no! What if they make a sequel will he not be in it?

I saw CN being interviewed on T4 last week and they asked her a barrage of questions about all the rumours like Is there a wedding? Is there a birth? Is there a funeral? and to each question she replied "There are dream sequences in the film" over and over again.

Where were they? Did I miss them?

Can't believe Carrie married Big. I would have told him to poke it. Idiot.

Kim Cattrall steals the show though. She's brilliant.

I nearly wet myself laughing when Charlotte shit herself lol!!

Saw the film last night and loved it. However i did think that it was all a tad predictable, especially the ending.

More "laugh out loud" moments than the TV show.

Loved the Miranda/Steve storyling - but predictable too!

Saw SATC last night with my mates. Never a big fan of the show, but usually saw it as it seemed to be constantly on Channel 4.

Really enjoyed it, but a couple of gripes with the film.

Charlotte saw completely ignored in the film. All the other girls had emotions, etc, etc, etc to deal with. With Charlotte, who formally thought she could never had children it was just like, "She's pregers" and then back to the other story lines.

Charlotte shitting herself brough the film down to a stupid level the show was never at.

Why did Steve have the affair? This is another case of writers changing characters merely to fit the story. They could have had the Miranda story line as her struggling to cope with being a successful business women, wife, mother, daughter-in-law and friend.

Far too long.

Also, did anyone else's showing have problems with the boom microphone coming into view. The first third of the film was fine, but the latter two thirRAB, the boom mic was in view for most of the scenes. Was this just the showing that I saw or a problem with the film?

Went to see the film last night with frienRAB. It's such a good job we pre booked our tickets as the cinema was full.
most people had made a real effort and got glammed up, which was great.
As soon as we heard the theme tune there was cheering. I give the film 10/10, it was prefect. Some great comedy moments including Samantha's randy dog, charlotte "perkipsee-ing" in her pants and Stanford and Anthony's new years kiss, great stuff.
some really sad moments too, the wedding-yikes!!! and Miranda and Steve...i shed a tear at miranda sitting in alone on New years eve, and Carrie running to get to her. The dresses!, how beautiful were the wedding dresses?....i'd like the Oscar De La Renta one please, failing that the Vera Wang.
I absolulely loved this film, and If you are a Sex and the City fan, you will love it. At the end of the film applause broke out.

Someone else has already posted a spoiler in the first page and you've not stressed at them.

It clearly states in the title 'may contain spoilers'. Why don't you either a) create a spoiler-free thread or b) just don't read this thread?

I read that review and have to agree with a couple of the points, but jeez, it was on for over 2 hours I dont know how much more stuff they could put in.

PS I bet the rentals on Bag, Borrow or Steal go through the roof now!!! :D :D

*edit* I just checked the site and they SATC is plastered all over it :)

I saw the film this morning and really enjoyed it. Believe it or not I've not watched Sex in The City before though I have heard of the characters. Even though I didn't know much about the background to the film I still found myself going through a rollercoaster of emotions. Now I need to get hold of the previous tv series cos if they're half as good as the film they'll be well worth watching.

This is a nice little movie and certainly won't be hated by those SATC fans. It has a good mixture of comedy and emotion and was pretty much in keeping with the series.

However, I did come away wondering what the point of it all was? Did this really need to be a movie or would it have worked better as maybe a 3 part special on TV? I felt that there wasn't much plot development. In many ways they undid some of the series finale and gave it another, more elaborate go. Things that I felt were character progression weren't developed enough and there was more then enough time for them to have done this.

I like Jennifer HuRABon, she has a real warmth about her on screen, however, I wasn't quite sure what the point of her was. Yes, she 'fixed' Carrie, but was it necessary for her at all? I don't think it was any better for her involvement.

I'm not sure I loved the ending and part of me hoped to find Aiden coming along, but that's my own personal opinion.

All that aside, for a TV to Film move, this one does work. It does lose a little something in translation (Language and some of SATC 'shock' factor was reduced due to getting a more friendly certificate), but I can't see how any fan of the show could hate it.

I'm sure we'll see these girls again.

^Didnt see the boom, but I noticed a scene near the end it was either Carrie or Samantha on a bed, and the camera was that shaky it felt like I was watching Cloverfield again.

I also thought the Westwood wedding dress had wierd boob cones, like old madonna.

I didnt get why they didnt go into the whole steve/miranda/no sex for 6 months thing. Usually this would have a whole show at least dedicated to it.?

Im not slagging the film though , I really enjoyed it. I hope it does well.

Its also nice to read the peoples comments who HAVENT watched the show.
I didnt think that the movie was strong enough to make people who cared about the characters who hadnt encountered them before, but evidently it was :)
