Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Well maybe I just didn't watch the trailers closely enough. Don't think I seen that one before, but even that one just looks like a normal film until half way into it.

the fight scenes were great , Edgar Wright should be given a superhero movie for those alone .

but somehow the film didn't work . with Spaced I actually believed in the characters , they were grounded in a reality I believed in , I never felt that with these characters , the director seemed too intrusive , he had to interfere in every scene it seemed .

Saw it today at Movie Con.

I have not read the books, I had no idea of the storyline or about any of the characters (expect the basic plot), and I can tell you...it's fantastic.

It's hilarious throughout, the effects are amazing, the cast are brilliant too. It's very clever and very well made and directed. McCulkin's character is very funny (as is Cera).

It's the most fun I've had watching a film in a long time. The time just passes by, and I really recommend it. It's silly but brilliant.

I prefered it to Kick-Ass!

9/10

Edgar has been given a Superhero film. He's directing Ant-Man. Marvel were going to release it before The Avengers but now it's looking like it's been put back until after it. Him directing this film is one of the reasons the film didn't get made before The Avengers.
According to IMDB they are currently working on the second draft of the script.

The standard window is 17 weeks from cinema release, which would have it come out on 27th December, but that is unconfirmed as yet.

Saw this today. Really liked it! Apart from being based on comic books why's everyone comparing it to Kick-Ass? They're nothing alike!

Loved the effects, sharp script, lots of humour and witty lines, visually it's unlike anything you've seen before but all the better for it. Lots of different characters who you'll all like for different reasons. And Michael Cera does play his usual self but this time he plays it with gusto, with a bit of swagger and he kicks ass! That for me made it stand out! Only thing i wasn't keen on was Romano Flowers more so the actress who played her. I didn't find her all that appealing and likeable.

Despite that really enjoyable film and i liked how it opened with the Universal Logo. Won't be for everyone but definetely a cult smash hit!

Ok I haven't read the comics and I do love films like this, but I've had these questions bugging me for a while no matter how great the film is: But why does Scott have to fight 7 ex-boyfrienRAB when they had the time to take eachother out? Is 7 a special number so that Scott has to deal with all of them on his own? Why does she go for only evil boyfrienRAB yet when she finRAB an innocent one he will now be ganged up(or required to fight them all) rather than the girl just telling them to leave him alone?

Thanks to anyone who can answer these because I don't really understand the plot of the film/comics despite trying to find an overview of it.

I want to see this but people are comparing it to Kick Ass and stuff, and I found Kick Ass to be, well, OK, nothing special. Michael Cera plays the same character in EVERYTHING he is in, so I don't know if I could put up with that for this film. On the other hand the trailer makes it look good and from what I've read the opening Universal logo has been done in a way that will make any 20 something gamer grin from ear to ear and instantly take them back to their childhood.

I'll probably see it over the weekend, I just hope it's not as awful as some are making it out to be, and I certainly hope it's much better than Kick Ass.

It looks like we could be getting Scott Pilgrim on Blue Ray and DVD before December as the Region 1 (USA) DVD and Blue Ray as been announced for the 9th November according to DVD Active website. Scott Pilgrim was released in US cinemas two weeks before the UK so we should expect the UK DVD and Blue Ray towarRAB the end of November at the latest:

"Universal Home Video has announced DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Combo releases of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World for November 9th. Extras on the DVD will include a commentary with director Edgar Wright, co-writer Michael Bacall and Author Bryan Lee O

i seen this today never knew much bout it never heard of the comics either

friend told me he watched it last night and said it was really good thats it.

i had a quck glance on imdb seen micheal cera in the cast and by the looks thought it was going to be another romcom/stoner comedy

i turned it on expecting to laugh but i found no laughs and hated all the quick cuts and flashy moving through scenes i didt get it or the characters i think its certainly only one for the fans then when the fighting started i was like OK WTF!!! i liked some of the fighting to begin with but then it got old really fast for me anyways

iv read on this thread the guy who directed shawn and hotfuzz did this and i loved loved them two movies really funny but this i didt like i didt find it remotely funny just annoying.
