Scott Pilgrim vs The World

The others are even better. As good as the first one is, after reading the others it's pretty clear that O'Malley was still finding his feet both in terms of the writing and the visuals.

The books more or less keep improving as they go on, I'm really looking forward to the sixth and final one in a few months time (and of course looking forward to the movie, which looks amazing!)

I saw it last night as my frienRAB wanted to and I fancied an evening out.

It was alright. It didn't blow my mind, probably because I'm not a comic book fan or really a huge action movie fan. I'd heard reviews saying it had something for everyone. I don't think it did, tbh. I liked Wallace and Stacey (I love Anna Kendrick, she's the best thing in Twilight).

I tried to work out why I didn't really rate the film afterwarRAB, and I decided it was because I don't rate Michael Cera that highly as an actor as he always seems to play the same character (wandering round with mouth open) and more to the point, both Scott and Ramona were really unlikeable characters, Scott especially. I genuinely didn't give a toss if he won his battle with the world. Plus I found some of the humour a bit obvious

The lesbian ex for example - as soon as she appeared it was obvious she was one of Ramona's exes and I couldn't work out if we weren't supposed to get that or not as the big reveal later seemed to suggest we should be cracking up. That she dated Todd from Scott's ex's band was obvious too.

It wasn't as good as Kickass and I found that a bit of a let-down in the end. The ending of Scott Pilgrim was a let-down as well imo, and the plot itself was quite repetitive and obvious.

And I resented paying

Wow, that was awful. No idea what that was about.

Why was he an awesome fighter?
Why did he have 7 Xs to destroy (why did the one before him not have 6 to destroy, leaving Scott only one?
Why did he keep appearing in different places at the start?
Why did she have a chip in her neck?
Why did they turn into coins?

Saw this last week and didn't like it, at all. Which surprised and disappointed me because I expected to really enjoy it.

I really am confused by all of the uber enthusiastic reviews it has received. I am in my twenties, read comics and play video games so I guess I should be amongst the target audience but I just didn't find it funny and it was hard to care about Scott and Ramona. The fights also got tedious very quickly and everything was much too LOUD.

Maybe I'm just getting old before my time. :)

Its never explained, he just is.

Because Gideon was Ramona's last boyfriend and he created the leauge, bringing the other X's together to destroy Pilgrim.

Im not sure what you mean by that.

Gideon put it there.

Because its like a video game.

Saw it on Saturday. Brilliant movie, very funny. Lots of geek humour, mixed in with genuinely funny general humour. Will definitely be buying on blu-ray when its released.

It should be called Scott Pilgrim vs The Marmite because that's the sort of movie it is. Some people love it and some hate it and there appears very little opinion anywhere inbetween. I was on the Dislike side - just wasn't funny or entertaining for me.

Its getting a rave of positive reviews so far, unlike the other movie thats gonna crush scott pilgrim at the us box office. Oh well...

Coincidently, an animated special will be showing on adult swim(the US one) at midnight early friday. Based on a few scenes that were shown on youtube, I think it'll be from volume 2 also titled 'scott pilgrim vs. the world'. looks great.

If you dont mind spoilers, you can preview the comics of the first few volumes at scottpilgrim.com

I know what you mean. If people are asking questions like that, it was never, ever going to be their kind of film in the first place.

I seen this on Friday and I really liked it. I was surprised at hearing it's been a commercial flop! So far it's only grossed around half of what it cost to make and it was released almost a month ago.

I loved how stylised and OTT it was.

well i finally saw it this afternoon and i loved it
it really is a film for the geeks my gf who is also a geek picked up a lot of the refernces zelda music etc and i cant wait for the bluray
