Qi

I spent Christmas on my own (although I was looking after a neighbour's dog) as my family live on the other side of the world, and was delighted to find the Christmas QI on YT.

I think this must have been recorded in the summer though, as I was in the UK then and tried to get tickets for a QI recording, so it must have been a surreal experience for them to be surrounded by tinsel in May or June; no wonder they acted up.

(Oh, and jonno, I did manage more than one hour outside thanks, most of it in my pool as temperature here that day was 30C.):p :)

Funny thing is most of the things in the program I discovered this week, even the steak in blood (from this forum).

They should have covered "why astronaut feel weightlessness."

I don't think it's dumbed down, it's just very badly edited. That whole Quasimodo crap was just a waste of time.

The QI XL which has just returned is a lot better.

QI episodes have stated recently - on two separate occasions - that it is an urban myth that Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian. According to the excellent biography by Ian Kershaw, it is well documented that he was indeed a vegetarian from 1924 onwarRAB.

Could have Paul Whitehouse dusting off Rowley Birkin QC, or teaming up with Charlie Higson as Ted and Ralph. Or Swiss Toni ("Appearing on QI is very much like making love to a beautiful woman!).

Andy Hamilton could play the Devil - from his radio show Old Harry's Game.

Stephen could host in the guise of Jeeves.[/QUOTE]

Or General Melchett - Baaahhh!!

As far as the gun thing goes for a time I was confused because I thought, from his mime, that he was firing the gun downwarRAB towarRAB the earth at the same time as dropping a bullet.

That these would both take the same length of time to hit the ground didn't make sense at all.

Then I realised what he was actually saying :o

Write into QI and inform them! If you correct QI on something (correctly) you get a throphy and a "I am a smart arse" badge.

In my social group that would be the ultimate status symbol, if one my gang got one we'd have to bow to them.

Count posters who post on xmas day in that. Sorry - but "excuse me, family members - I'm just sitting down with my Brandy , laptop, favourite chair, and I won't be talking to you all for a while" kinda spoils it all really. (Apart from the Brandy bit maybe). I thought this day was all about getting together and being sociable. Does Internet posting count these days as being sociable.

Now - going outside for fresh air , followed by a good flick this afternoon at the cinema. Have a good new year all - and hey, resolution could be less posting about things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things , more optimism, and a hobby that involves being outside for 1 hour minimum. Good Luck!

I thought it was really poor tonight, most of the jokes weren't funny and a lot of the questions that are supposed to be difficult/unusual just seemed like common knowledge like Mormons not being allowed more than one wife anymore (which isn't strictly true anyway since the Church of Latter Day Saints is only one denomination of it and more 'fundementalist' sects of it do have it.) The same with the Robert Burns question and the songs about drugs. And Stephen Fry reading out what year random worRAB originated was neither funny nor interesting and seemed to go on forever.

Bill Bailey used to be good on QI. But most of the time in recent series, when he's been on, he basically shuts up and barely contributes a thing. I remember him saying 2 years ago that he wasn't going to do panel games anymore. Perhaps he should have stuck to that. Rich Hall, on the other hand is a treasure. He says little, but when he does open his mouth he's hilarious. :)

QI seems to have jumped the shark. I'm not only disappointed, I'm also angry. Not a pleasant way to start my festive day :(

They need more questions, more imparting of knowledge, and less showboating (including from Mr Fry). In other worRAB, return to how it was in series two/three (I find repeats of series one a tad strange for some reason).

Well that'll learn me to not turn off just cos JV is getting on my wick :D

It's still on catch up, maybe I'll give it another go and get back to you.
