She seemed to be in a very tetchy mood this week. I though she was going to lump Sean Locke at one point - the 2nd Language question.
I agree she's not bringing anything to the show now (even Alan comes out with some occassional gems) but she's not the only one - Sean Locke didn't really contribute that much. He got Greek after they seemingly dismissed every other language of the age. Phil Jupitus is another who just seems to occupy a seat.
A few more other guests need to be bought in - I recall Emma Thompson was pretty good as was Ben Miller. I also would like to see James May as he seems to be a bit of a trivia king. Danny Baker was okay as was Hugh Laurie (though I appreciate that one may be more difficult).
But please keep Johnny Vegas and Lee Mack out of the Studio in future - they just don't suit the show.
May has been on HIGNFY once or twice. He was fairly quiet, but I thought him good when he did talk. (Except he argued that global warming would raise sea-levels based on observing the ice melting in a G&T, and I'd expect him to understand the physics better than that, and now I don't know if he's genuinely that ignorant or was just saying it for comic effect.)
I had no idea Barry had been on before, but I don't doubt it. I have missed a few of the episodes from the F and G series because it's no longer a "must-see" for me
Isn't that slightly making the mistake of making the top gear team look like they are all the same person?
I am not being contrary, just saying.
Clarkson is an arrogant know-it-all loudmouth (I DO enjoy watching him in TG tho ) while James May is none of the above.
James would be very interesting on QI as he has a much more intelligent brain than Clarkson - for that kind of show anyway.
The idea of course is to come out with interesting snippets, and all Jeremy can do is find some way of slagging someone or something off, using a cleverly thought up analogy, whereas James I feel could actually sit there and reel off a whole XL edition's worth of rambling, but interesting, and funny nonsense.
Do they have new production staff on this series; last week the sound editing was so poor I missed half of what was being said as it all just submerged into an aural mess with everyone shouting at once, this week there was a succession of weird shots of David Mitchell looking disturbed and evidently trying to but into one of Vegas's rants but wothout managing it.
I am just going to join in the posters who are calling you names for that post.
My name for you is...
...
Well, I am not into name-calling as a rule, but suffice to say your post, and your attitude to others, stinks.
I think Bill's someone worth holding onto. A lot of the funniest moments of QI have involved him. I haven't really noticed him being quiet but then I haven't been watching much of this series. If he's been a bit underwhelming then so have most of the regulars, apart from David Mitchell.
Haven't seen the most recent ep but what I like about Rich Hall is the way he waits until he has something worth saying to speak, rather than just saying anything to not come across as quiet. He's been responsible for a lot of great lines in the earlier series.
And Jeremy Hardy would be a great panellist to have back, maybe he doesn't want to do it anymore.
