I think it's because she is a bit of a one-trick horse. All her humour, and indeed what she made her name in doing when she was first released to the comedy world, was the fat jokes.

I'm not her biggest fan as every comment on any panel show seems to be about being fat or a woman or both.

Whereas the other guests can come up with relevant jokes (most of the time) and one liners specifically about the subject in question or topical humour at time of recording whereas Jo Brand just drags it down the "fat woman" alley all the time. It gets a bit "samey". Oh look, another fat woman / unattractive / low expectations on who I would like to shag jokes. It doesn't really fit in with what's being said. Ok for a stand up act, but you need to forget that when taking part in a themed or topical show.

There's nothing worse, in my opinion, than a comedian suffixing their punchline with the elongated "errrr" when they've delivered their line as if they haven't got anything to follow on with and waiting for audience appreciation which I'm afraid Jo Brand does quite a lot.

I guess if you're under 30 you may not have a clue who he is - but I'd be very surprised if anyone 35+ didn't know him from The Likely LaRAB, at least.

I can CONFIRM myself being right about this. In the standard Friday night edition when Alan pressed his buzzer after it had gone "Something 3, something o" he said something along the lines of "That would be scary" BUT the XL edition last night they cut him saying that. 100% CERTAIN of it.

I did like the one I saw on Dave the other day when everyone asked Stephen what their dreams meant and he basically gave them all the same answer:

"Face it, you're gay"

:D

It was through Stephen Fry that I learned that the correct plural of octopus is octopodes.

;)

Anyway, I'm not convinced that QI has 'dumbed down' or anything like,
I still mostly love the programme, I was just disappointed by the wit free zone that was this year's Christmas special!

I totally agree, even Alan Davies no longer adRAB anything to the show, his role has got a bit borring.

I think this show really goes down hill when David Mitchell isnt on it. He manages to be funny, sarcastic, while actually knowing quite alot.

It is a shame then that so much of the cleverness is inaccurate nonsense. Still, if it makes the curious re-check informed sources for the truth then that is no bad thing.

What did he do worse than Davies and Bailey? Maybe he was a dick for joining in but it was his first appearance and probably thought that joining in was the way to go instead of sitting back saying nothing like Tennant.

Yes, but Alan Davies served a specific purpose..he usually gave the commonly accepted answer, heralding the claxton.
He originally represented the the viewers on the show, giving the answers we had grown up believing. He still showed interest in the subject matter, often coming up with some clever anecdotes relating to the questions. He was/is an intelligent guy, occasionally playing the fool for the sake of the show.
I admit, the exchanges between Vegas and Brydon were amusing..but they allowed Johnny to dominate the show and he's just not THAT funny.

Quite a lot. Too many people seem to think QI is the final word, and what the programme says is true. Remember, the QI researchers are just that, they are not specialists in any field.

Doubt it. As I've mentioned before, this series was recorded months ago - proof of which David Mitchell said he was 34, which he was at the time, but he is now 35.

I loved the references to pregnancy and things you can do to try and make your children intelligent. Alan Davies's wife would have been about three months pregnant at the time of recording and I am sure the other members of the panel knew that and played up to it without actually mentioning it.

As for iPlayer - maybe also check your friendly YouTube for uploaRAB.;)
