Procedures for Buying and Selling of BTV Receivers

Can someone let me know if a used DISHnet receiver (HDTV) would work on the Bell system? They are selling for low prices on sites like eBay. I am not interested in spending $300+ tax for a 6100 or $600 ++ on a 9200. I'd appreciate some help.
 
Seems that some people here know better than long time agent...

I guess there is no much more we could say about buying and selling receivers that wasn't discussed already, before this other subject turns into a war about who knows better about the location ID (SAT vs Digital Home posters) I suggest that we close that thread...
 
Now , to go back on the subject, this is what I've been doing for the last little while. I just took the infos (including PIN) of a friend of mine that is a BEV cx. Whenever I want to buy or sell a rx, I just call as a customer with his informations. My friend is fully aware of it and knows that Bell might eventually ask him why he is asking if there is a clear title on 5-10 receiver a month. Sometimes, I just add it on the account to remove it a few weeks later. It really sucks but it seems that is the only way I can be sure. Installers would be a little more BEV friendly if BEV was a little more installer friendly.
 
As long as you pay for all the channels you receive it doesn't matter if you mod your receiver.
 
Hmm with new receivers apparently on the horizon...is my 9200 worthless?

I sold mine a couple of years ago, notified the rep at the time and several times later that the receiver should be removed from my account but even now I still see it listed under my profile under bell.ca. Does this mean the guy I sold it to has been free loading off me all this time?

a friend of mine bought a used 9200 receiver, but it doesn't have a smartcard. Does anyone know what the procedure is to add this receiver to his account ? How much for a new smartcard ?

I know I would never sign up for it myself either. I just went and bought a quad lnb off ebay for $10, took the old dual out, ran 2 lines..done.
 
Visit a Bell World Store.

Bell 6100 Refurbished is $199 & a refurb 9200 is $299.

They also had an offering recently, not sure its still valid of a 6100 & 300 for $125.

But to answer you question, no, Bell would not activate the Dish receiver, unless you were luck enough to get a new CSR.

You also need to be aware that the software on that receiver would have to be changed over to Bell too, not a job for a layman.

When I terminated the account, BEV said the account was disconnected, not simply deactivated. That said, there's no way I'm going to get re-involved with them.
 
If I can get a used Bell 6000 receiver, can I just call Bell and add it to my sub.? It seems that its in good shape, but I was informed it doesn't have an "8psk" module, do I need this to get basic bell HD channels?
 
Let's see, Bell does Landline, Wireless, Data & Television, we'll that would seem to describe a COMMUNICATIONS company, NOT!
 
I don't belive so as most clients are not aware that there would be new receivers out...and I belive that 9200 will still be usable.

If a client could now sell a 2700 you can most probably sell you 9200. Be sure to call us to put a note on the account so client could activate it
 
Don't forget sign up is the time to take advantage of any new customer deals on hardware. You will miss out if you open the account with just the the old receiver. If your are not going to take advantage of that may I suggest you talk to the retention dept and transfer your account to the new place with a 30% discount for a year. Transfer is free.
 
location ID had nothing to do with a phone line and anyone who is actually "knowledgeable" with BEV equipment knows it is a simple program which gives off an ID based on receiver ID and time of day.
 
Well you mention that Bell was No1 in Montreal with no backup references, so maybe you should revise your statement.
Your right I thought I could get a reasonable answer from you, but obviously I was wrong. Why does that not surprise me?? You are French? Correct? I can tell by your spelling. Maybe I should have one of my installers come here and explain this in French for you.

You say Bell is looking into that site. They did not know they were being judged across Canada, not just Montreal? Are they going to try and buy them out now or shut them down?
As for Reztel, I am doing nothing wrong. If I was to do an install for them it would be paid by them and the job would be done. Fact is I have not had any work from them for over a year now as all the Dealers here Quit selling Bell!! Hello!
If they call me for service work, I can do whatever the hell I want when dealing with them as I am under no contract to anybody for service work except SC now. If you check Reztel dropped service to Bell ages ago.

I am 53 years old and do not get in arguments on the phone with half wits my friend! I do not want the customer to think I am as childish as the person on the other end of the phone. So I am afraid it was not me you were talking to.
But it is easy to see how you could make an installer mad. Funny how you all forget we are the most important people in the chain, not you people sitting at a desk thousands of miles away even though you like to think you are.

As for your third point, Are you Blind??? I am asking a simple Yes or No question which you just do not or can not comprehend for some reason.

The question is so very simple. "I have this receiver in my hand, can I sell it or not. Yes or NO. Very simple.
Yes, it has a clear title.
No, it is on somebody's account.

Why do you think this question would effect a customers privacy??

Gorilla I've sold several kids toys on the Kijiji site and each time I set an appoitement somewhere and met the buyer to give her the toy.

 
Some people were able to get bell csr's to add a Dish receiver to bell inventory in the pre nagra 2 days. But the owner still had to remove dish's software and restream at 91 to download bell's software before calling, as a receiver with dish software would not download bell SW, with invoved using a jtag and the jkeys program. Only receiver's with a jtag port were able to be switched (2700 3100 5x00 6000). The 6100 and 9200 as far as I know are not jtag-able, so a owner would have no way of earsing the dish network firmware anyway.

I doubt anyone would be able to have a CSR add a dish receiver anymore. As this is not allowed!
