Procedures for Buying and Selling of BTV Receivers

If you told bell that you sold the receiver they should of disactivated it as well. More than likely they wanted it for something else.

I always call. Yet the receiver does not always get deactivated. One receiver I sold almost two years ago was still active today. I can only assume that someone has been getting free TV all that time due to some CSR's mistake. The other I just sold and had to call twice so the new owner could activate it on his account.

Thanks for the reply... I could have wasted a lot of money without your help!

Can you tell me whether the refurb offer was in the GTA? I travel all over Toronto / Mississauga and would buy a used system no problem. (Or am I wasting my $$ on that too if they move to the new MPEG format?)

If the receiver never had a new card issued there is NO fee. If the receiver is missing the new Narga 2 card then there is a fee, it was $69 bucks. There MAY be a $35 dollar fee as well to use a old receiver on a NEW account not a existing account.

One of the problems in having the max number of receivers on your account is that you must call and speak to a CSR to remove one to be able to add one. You can not do this online or via the Bell IVR phone system.

Then again... who cares!!! lol

A few things you might want t consider:

-Your girlfriend has to buy a new receiver, or rent one to be eligible for the new clients promo
-If she opens an account using only that receiver she would have to pay for the installation + a 35$ transfer charge. She won't get any month free or any new client's discount
-You will have to give them a 30 days notice before you move. During that 30 days you account will remain active, and the receivers can not be transferred

BUT

-You can also call in and say you want to close your account cause you are moving. They will offer you the free move (which by the way ids always free for the first receiver) and make you a retention offer. Most of the time the retention offers are as good as the new clients promo! It could be 2-3 months free, free HD PVR for a year and a month free, 30% off for 6-12 months

I show 14 on my account of which four are active. Sold the others to legit users who have activated them...and Bell insists they stay there till heck freezes over...

Amazing that I have those 3500s and 2700s still showing though! And it is a great laugh at work when people start discussing the number of IRDs you can have on one account!! LOL

I still have three 6000s showing as well!!!

Depending on the S04 # that is written on the Receiver, a Card may NOT be required.

Please supply S04** and I will let you know, I do not require ALL the numbers.

Well you can sell it even though it is not legally yours, the buyer might me able to use it to pirate expressvu, it's not like actually cares what happens to expressvu receivers after they are desubbed. If they wanted to sub on it they would have to pay a rental fee, which defeats the point of buying it.

It would make more sense if they paid 15-20 to get it sent back, they could always rent it out or use it as a refrib.

I would call them one last time, and get the CSR's name and id#(and possibly record the conversation if you could, and tell the csr that it is being recorded) and tell them to send you a box to return the receiver or your throwing it in the garbage.

Knowing bell you might throw out the receiver tomorrow (without contacting them first)and the next day get a bill for $99 for a unreturned receiver, and if you refused to pay they would probley sell the balance eto a collection agency.

You definetly need a card for the 6100. They originally came without a card but now need a card for the Nagra3 encryption. Sure would be less hassle if you got a 6100 with the new card.

Hello Agent Express V. I see you are a Bell customer agent. I am new here and glad I found this place.

I live in BC and install satellite for a living. Last year I moved to an area that is strictly a SC area. All dealers have dropped Bell as they are famous for Screwing the dealers and installers out of money. Please don't try and deny this, it is a fact and can be proven. I work for Reztel and have always been paid on time, so I have no issues.

My problem relates to your CSR's and how they are trained. Since moving here, I discovered that there is not a single installer in town that wants to deal with a Bell customer (because of above issues) so they send them to me. I give the customer the choice of paying me cash for the work or I will Flip them into SC and give them 25 bucks for there old rec. Many will usually switch which is fine by me as SC pays better and always on time :)

Now comes the problem. I have called your customer lines many times to find out if the receivers I have are Free and clear for re-sale. At times your customer may have a bad rec and I could sell them a used one and keep them happy since Bell will not ship a replacement to them and the Closest Bell Store is 4 hours away from us. So I have called to see if the serial numbers are clear for re-sale. Now I have been told that your CSR can be fired if they tell me that information because of privacy issues and directive from high up etc. Logic and common sense do not seem to come in play here. I am not asking for anything but a simple answer. "Can I resell these receivers???"
I asked one CSR, So you won't tell me if these are clear so I can sell them to a customer of yours, you would prefer I sell them on Ebay so a Pirate may buy it instead?? I was told, I can do what I have to do to get rid of them.
I said that would only encourage privacy, I want to put these back into your system so they are legit. Sorry, I need my job, is there anything else I can help you with?? Hmmm!! Help...Not.

I have offered them my Name, Co name, phone etc, I have even told them if any of them happened to be stolen I would gladly be happy to return them to the rightful owner etc. Nothing would sway your CSR's to check serial numbers for me.
I must say they are well trained, but what do you suggest I do with this pile of receivers in my basement??
Ebay or maybe the local CBC maybe interested in a story???

Thank you for your time and response.

Frustrated in BC.

The 6000's work fine as far as I know. Yah, you just call Bell and they add the reciever to your account from whoever you bought it off of.

I just activated two brand new in the box 3100s that I have had sitting around for a couple of years (bought online from FS that's how old they were! with one generation back cards).

No problem activating them and the new cards are being mailed out ASAP. Of course I shall wait & see if and when the cards arrive!!!!

I'm looking to buy an Expressvu 5920 PVR.
Are there no deals for existing customers?
I see that new customers get a $150 programming credit at sign up.
I've looked around on eBay, but I noticed I wouldn't be saving much over the regular $300 price at Bell World.

That is the problem
Their company policy ENCOURAGES people to sell their boxes to pirates
It is darn near impossible to sell your receiver, and have the buyer activate it LEGALLY
Unfortunately, you are better of selling it to the pirates (you'll probably get more for it anyways) and will save the headache of sitting on hold, while your call is escalated, and dropped, until someone tells you they cant do anything for you.....
This is one of the dinosaur policies that help the pirates get so many cards/boxes working to STEAL Bells product
If you are reading this Bell Big Wigs, take your head out of your, i mean the sand, and wake up, smell the coffee
As far as screwing the dealers, I know someone who shares your experiences
He had Bell "claw back" THOUSANDS of $$$ from his installers that installed upgrade kits, as requested on the workorder, after Bell decided that the customer didnt qualify for the upgrades
BTW, this was done a YEAR after the install was done
Sell the boxes on Fleabay, or craigslist, and you will most likely get more than you will from legit subscribers....

Good Luck
