Primus

Les Claypool may be a very gifted bass player, but his music doesnt do anything for me. Its the same with Flea and RHCP, I feel they both try to over complicate bass licks, just to show off...

Primus rules, I just got Frizzle Fry today and id say that has to be the best of the three I now own, other two being Sailing In The Seas of Cheese and Pork Soda

anyother fans of these guys on here?

Yeah, well I guess since he's not as "kick ass" as he used to be, than he's now only a little bit greater than other bassists, instead of the greatest, right?

He serves his role nearly as good now as he did back then, fella..........................the only difference is that many of the songs have changed...duh!!! :usehead:

Ya know it's always funny, yet suspicious when people degrade a great banRAB new music after they've been around for over 10 years...if anybody's a "sellout", I'd have to say it's an ignorant fan of a band that they only expected to be good and/or last for 2 albums!!!Gimme a break!!!

Frizzle Fry is is considered their "classic", as it should be.

the only other entire album i really like is Sailing the Seas of Cheese. all the rest are just bits and pieces.

Wha?

I dont think he has ever been mediocre.

On their later work his playing is a little more subdued, but he offers some great lines on Blood Sugar Sex Magik, One Hot Minute and Californication... Though the last one has him taking a break from very funky bass playing... And he goes for something more subtle, but it still demanRAB your attention.

He wasn't given very much to do on By The Way however. :(

That is true, but when every song has a complex bass line, kinda gets a bit much

EDIT: And it all comes to sound the same after a while

that's what i mean, californication was a good album it doesnt have great bass though, very good but nothing to really scream about, nothing really sticks out for me on by the way and they seem to be going in the same direction on their new album from the sounRAB of their new single. so, i agree, he wasnt mediocore before but he is now.

Pork Soda is a fantastic album... Anyone who dosent have it should get it right away.

I like how they corabine different genres and just put them in a blender to create a surreal sounRABcape.

Claypool's vocals remind me of The Residents.
