:look: Did you notice that "Mr. Collins" was in Pirates? The actor played Cutler Beckett (the bad guy ... the one that arrested Will and Elizabeth).

That scene is incredible. :thud: Definately my favorite scene in the movie! The dialogue and acting is fantastic.

And then he asks her to dance in a later scene

anyone watch the movie with commentary? it's only joe wright commenting, but some of the things he says were pretty funny.

Hello!!! I've actually never posted on any board other than OTH but I just watched this movie this week and I am absolutley IN LOVE WITH IT!!! :in_love: Honestly, Darcy is my dream guy and Liz is my MovieCharacter Idol!!! Man i loved this movie. Everything about it. The romance was brilliant, the characters were realistic, the cast was amazing!!! I especially loved the facial features!! they were perfect!!!!!!!!!! anyways, i was wondering if there are any Liz&Darcy avis?

^I think P&P bewitched us, body and soul ;)

Great icons! Thanks Alexa :)

Rukia - that scene!

 Okay, where do/did you all go to school that you were never made to read Jane Austen? I mean, her works are considered literary classics!

Yes, the book is good, as are most (all) of her books. They're especially good for commentary on the social structure and politics of class-issues of the day, and the limited role for strong women. From what I know she had some difficult times, herself.

Also, I've said it before but I think Keira Knightly - who's a very attractive (if a bit too thin for my taste) young woman - looks really odd in this film and her pea head is really noticeable. I don't think the hair and makeup people did her any justice. :(

The young woman who played Lizzie/Elizabeth Bennet in the TV version is Jennifer Ehle, and I like her slightly more rounded look, but they're both wonderful at playing the character.

Ash_Lost - I would love to send the video to you... but I'm not quite sure how. So if you have any pointers, that'll be great. :)
Btw how come You-Tube doesn't work for you? Does it take too long to upload??

I haven't watched this movie in a long while. Maybe I'll get the chance either tomorrow or the weekend.

I do so love this movie and the book. I guess all of aficionado's have about the same scene engraved in our minds -the first proposal in the rain. I loved how it seemed like they leaned into each other near the end as if there was a kiss about to happen.

Another favorite is when Lizzie is reading Darcy's explanation and how time has passed and she is in a daze and doesn't really see him walk in, nor walk out and then the letter is there for her to read, she turns and see's his horse galloping away. I do like the 05 version.

The book Sense and Sensibility is also a great piece of work(I haven't seen the movie). Though, I have to say my favorite is till P&P.

I wanted to the book from my library but it was already taken... so I took Sense and Sensibility instead... saw that mvie as well...

Hi,

I finally saw the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice. I liked that it had more information than the new version, however, I think that Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen had much more chemistry together (I could feel the passion between them), and I thought the older version was too long.

I'm glad to have seen it so I was able to compare them both.

Hmmmm....

Well, my favorite scene has to be with Lizzie and Darcy are on the terrace in the rain and he tries to propose to her and she explains to him why she wouldn't even if he was the last man on earth. I just thought they had so much chemistry in this scene and one of Keira's best performances.

I believe the ending without the kiss was made for the UK release of the movie in an attempt to be loyal to what Austen might have done. The kiss at the end of the movie was for the US and Canadian release of the movie. Though I think that eventually the UK showed the US/Canadian ending in the theatres and I know that is was included on the DVD.

I agree that the actors in this movie make it come alive. You truly feel every character's emotion and feelings. This is definitely my favorite movie. I really want to see more of Matthew's work.

I've not seen any other Austen film adaptations but I am currently reading "Sense and Sensiblity." I am enjoying it a lot but I'm not sure if anything can compare to P&P.

I really wasn't into this movie the first time I saw it, but I just watched it again on TV... and I swooned. :in_love: Matthew and Kiera have such great chemistry.
