Pokemon- when will it end?

I think Pokemon is an evergreen franchise. I think it will join the ranks of series like Doraemon or Detective Conan that will probably just never end.

Considering the fact that Pokemon is still a very popular and huge money making franchise, I would say no. Even if people get sick of it and lose interest, new Pokemon fans are born everyday. Obviously, the game franchise itself has to do with it, because honestly, if Pokemon was just an anime series by itself from the start, I doubt the franchise would have lasted this long. It's not just a franchise, it's a Nintendo franchise. Has Nintendo ever stopped making Mario games after so many years? No, so I think there's a snow ball's chance in Hell that Nintendo will stop making Pokemon games. And of course, if Nintendo keeps making Pokemon games, the anime will naturally continue.

Didn't anyone read the director's interview? He stated that as long as new generations are made, the show will keep going on and Ash will never become a pokemon master until the franchise officially enRAB.

They'll have to run out of ideas for new Pokemon eventually, but from I read from the anime director's interview, as long as kiRAB are buying the games and other merchandise, it'll never end.

Running out of ideas for new Pokemon are one of the few things that could end the franchise. If the designs for new Pokemon get so desperate and lame, and even kiRAB start to notice, that could potentially cause a drop in the franchise's popularity.

I think this topic has come up before recently >_> but I still will give my two cents.

I hope that Ash's story will end sometime in the near future (ex: no more than a fifth generation), but that might not happen. Pokemon is an ongoing franchise that will seemingly never die out. So, thought I do hope that I will get to see the end of Ash's jounrey soon, but if Pokemon keeps going, with new characters, then I'll be perfectly happy. I just hope that the writers aren't still dealing with Ash by the time we're like 50.

As long as Nintendo is at the top of their game, I don't see the Pokemon Franchise going down under. After all it is one of Nintendo well known RPG, Sorry Earth Bound/Mother, Wars series, and Fire Erablem fans, (All of which I am a fan of) but Pokemon is more marketable and Nintendo tries to keep it in the limelight for as long as possible.

As long as they make more money the series won't end any time soon, and since there are several types of animals in this world they can make more new pokemon from plants, animals, minerals, etc.

Ash is already around 14. If he was going to go through puberty, I think it would have happened already. And, since this is a kiRAB show, that topic might not come up.

I think the main reason they never replaced Ash with a new protagonist for each generation like the games is because fans have become attached to him as the main character. They probably fear that if they replaced Ash entirely, the anime would go decrease in popularity because of fans missing Ash. Ever since Advanced, it seems like they have been adding new main characters, but Ash is still in the group as the prime focus. Although, it still baffles me why they ditched Misty but kept Brock.

Also they need an excuse to keep the main mascot, Pikachu around, after all Pikachu is technically only native to Kanto. In Generation II, You needed to go back to Kanto to catch him. In Generation III, Pikachu was only catchable in Hoenn through their Safari Zone, which was also filled with many Pokemon not native to Hoenn. Generation IV, Sinnoh, only catchable in Mr. Backlot's Backlot, if anyone is knowledgeable with how Mr. Backlot's Mansion works, all his Pokemon come from somewhere else.
