Pokemon 5th Generation: What do you hope for next?

I'm finding it really hard to agree with you on this...

Which is a problem in itself. Why should just the girl be expendable while Ash and Brock stay around? Sexist much?

Agreed with everything here (except for the thing about the camp arc. Aside from Conway, it was NOT awesome)

Again, agreed 100%. But it's worth mentioning that my feelings towarRAB Brock are also my feelings towarRAB Ash and Team Rocket. The staff should stop dwelling on "the Tracey incident" and realize that it'd be for the best to retire characters that we've been seeing for years and have gotten incredibly stale as a result.

If they have a new lead girl, I hope she has some attitude, maybe even someone that not afraid to break a few rules. The last two girls they had, they were goodie goodie's. I thought the original cast had the best chemistry, and when I say the original cast I mean the whole cast including Team Rocket. Misty was not a foil for Ash, but also a foil for Team Rocket and especially Jessie. She has called Jessie an old lady, old hag, witch, etc. I find the Misty vs Jessie episodes more entertating than the contest tournaments in which May and Dawn competted against one of Jessie's alto ego.

HAHAHA You guy's crack me up.
Having them do a DBZ Get a Car type episode would be too funny, agreed.
I don't know if I can imagine Ash trying to get a car. It'd probaly turn out to be a horrible disaster like what happened with Goku Team Rocket attacks Ash and Pikachu while he's out taking his drivers test.

No!!! I don't want Paul to become friendly like Gary.
I hope the writers do some thing different. I really want him around for the next region. Just do some thing different with there rivalry, don't let Paul be like Gary when it came to Johto. They got it right with Paul when having him show up in a lot of episodes and showing different things. He can kind of do some soul searching, why he lost and stuff. Have him try and get better and rechallange Ash a few times. I think it'd be cool.

Ask for Dawn, I'm pretty sure she's not going. Spoiler says they'll be splitting up soon.
I don't even know if shey'll see Ash home town. If not, shey'll be the first girl not to see it.
Course, she had a good run. More episodes than Misty and May even had and more TV movies even. Well maybe not TV movies, Misty had more.
I to hope the new next girl has more personality. New sidequest too, I'm tired of contests. Unless, next boy does them in the TV movie.

I don't think that Dawn was in more episodes than Misty and May. Misty was in about two-hundred and seventy-four episodes, even more if you want to count her episodes in Chronicles and May was in over one-hundred and ninety episodes. As of now, Dawn has only been in over one-hundred and sixty episodes. Dawn could be in more episodes than May, depending on when they finish Diamond and Pearl. Dawn will also be in the same amount of movies as May, which was four, while Misty was in the first five movies. Still, she's had a good amount of focus and I wouldn't be surprised if she was replaced with the new female trainer.

I actually wouldn't mind Contests returning. I honestly don't see why they would suddenly get rid of them when they've been an important part of the series for eight years. As long as the new female coordinator is interesting, trains a nice balance of cute and strong Pokemon and/or have interesting rivals, I'll be fine with her. I doubt that they'll have a male coordinator on the main cast since the Contests are there to appeal to the female demographic.

As for Paul returning for the fifth generation, I do like the idea of the writers continuing his rivalry between Ash. I'm not really sure how they'll handle that, but I guess it depenRAB on what happens in the Sinnoh League. I seriously doubt Paul could travel with Ash. They would have to actually make him friendly with Ash, which would make him less interesting, and he wouldn't be going after the same goal as Ash since seeing the same challenge to the Gyms twice would be boring. I think that there's a better chance of Paul traveling in the new region than Paul traveling with Ash.

Um, this is like a thing of toyetic anime targeted at boys. Yes, the girls are going to be expendable. It's annoying, but that's how it works.

That would be perfectly acceptable.

This. And judging by the typical pattern of "better storyline, better villains" that's introduced in each Gen of the games at least, I think this is a possibility. During the Hoenn saga, both Team Aqua and Magma corabined had only about 7-8 episodes centered around them and their plot. Team Galactic, counting their short debut and Looker's debut, have had 11 episodes. On top of that, they were handled much better than Aqua and Magma during their entire arc. According to the announcements and leaks that have been going on concerning Black and White versions, they're making it sound like this Generation will be pretty awesome in almost everything. I don't know exactly how much "darker" or "deeper" that they'll get with the new villains and storyline, but I have no doubt that they'll have improvements, as they do with each Gen.

Now, that's not saying that the villains and main arc of the anime will be just as good. For all we know, they could go back to basics and pull another flop like Aqua and Magma, but only time will tell.

That's cuz were getting to the league part.
Once the Grand Festival is over Dawn will have nothing to do unless she gets filler episodes. But most of the focouse will go to Ash cuz the league will be on him and his rivals. Plus he has to train his Pokemon before that time, so yah makes sense
Two guys with two girls? Only if they get rid of Brock and replace him with a fifth Generation guy, I'd be fine for that. I don't know if that will happen, if contests are in fact done with next Generation wonder what newbie girl could do? New Quest or shoved into the background like Misty once was?

One thing I liked about Advanced was there was a 4th traveling companion (even if some people hated Max, 4 characters offered a bit more interesting dynamic in my eyes, and the episodes with Lyra and Khoury had that dynamic as well.) So having two new companions would also be nice.

I also like the idea of the 5th girl being more rebellious/tough to offer a nice contrast to Dawn, or having a meraber travel with them (maybe Paul, but probably not) who's more tough/rebellious. It's something we haven't had yet and could freshen things up.

The sad thing is Pokemon is basically becoming like The Simpsons. You know how Simpsons has 21 seasons?

I really fear this is Pokemon's future. The Pokemon anime will go on with a floating timeline for 20 years, Ash will never age, his older Pokemon will rarely appear, and each girl will last about 4 years before being replaced by the next one.

Its honestly quite sad. I never believed or wanted Pokemon to wind up like The Simpsons is now, but considering we're currently in Season 13 of Pokemon, it won't be that much longer till we hit Season 20. Eventually the show will have 1000 episodes.

In retrospect, I liked the concept myself, but still hated Max. I thought it worked much better when Lyra and Khoury entered the scene, and when Brock got the shaft. Also, looking back on it, I think Lyra and Khoury being on the team might have been another way of testing the grounRAB of doing the 4 team dynamic again, except you make the 4th wheel someone you can relate to, and interesting.

I personally enjoyed watching Dawn contest growth over May. Personally I enjoyed "I'm going to be the best coordinator like my mother" to "Damn! I'm a loser and now depressed." to "It's Ok, as long as I do better, it doesn't matter if I win or lose" over "What's a Mudkip?" to "Blaziken kick your opponents butt." Really, out of both of their rivals, I only truly cared for from Dawn's side Jessilina, Ursula, Nando and Zoey, compared to May where I only cared for Harley, never really cared for Drew. So Dawn has earned more awesome points from me.

They just announced there will be a new saga after DP enRAB in the current adverts in Japan. Nothing else is known about it though.

Oh well, here's to another endless loop! The next 4 years will be yet another reboot, with yet another new newbie girl, and the borefest that is Brock returning.

You know sometimes I ask myself why I watched Pokemon as long as I did. Most other people stopped watching a long time ago, yet I watched consistently all the way to about halfway through DP before I started losing interest. Yes, I even watched all those dreadful Johto fillers back in their original run on KiRABWB back in 2001-2003.

It sickens me what the show has become. Every generation feels like a slap in the face to what came before it. (Again excluding Johto, which was lackluster compared to Kanto/Orange IslanRAB).

Now the anime will go on to at least 2013...how absurd. Pokemon is going to be one of those shows that go on for 20-30 years with decayed characters.

People who were 10 back when Kanto was airing in 1998 are now like 22+ year old adults. How sad is if it that your life flies before you eyes based on Pokemon?

The Pokemon anime is a curse. Sometimes I wish I never got into it in the first place.

Maybe the male and female playable characters in the game can be the third and fourth merabers of the group.

If it just another girl, I would like for them to clearly established that she is younger than Ash, and have Ash be more of a mentor / big brother, which would eleminate Brock's usefulness. May and Dawn when they started, they don't look 10 to me. And have Ash age a bit.

I was watching a rerun from Jhoto the other day on Boomerang, and they had a character of the week (she did return in an episode the following seasons) named Cassey. She was toraboyish, and tough. But clearly younger than Ash, so Ash could be more of a mentor of big brother to this type of character. That is the type of girl would be perfect for the new female lead.

Actully when think of a rebellish / tough female protagonist, one character that always comes to mind is Ruki from Digimon Tamers. She was as tough as nails on the outside even ruthless, though she had a valnueable kind side on the inside, and sometimes even willing to play dirty, and she played perfectly off goody goody Takato. Ash is a goody goody, and someone to challenge his goody goody ways would be interesting.

In her own ways, Misty was kind of rebellish, she did rebell against her family, and when she was there challenged Ash more than the other girls.

What I would love is when the new character(s) meet Team Rocket for the first time, and this will probably happen before they meet Ash, is right when Team Rocket begins their motto, she or they have their Pokemon attack and sent Team Rocket blasting off before they can finish their blabbing. That would make an instant statement that these characters play by a different set of rules.

I would love to see a tough girl on Pokemon. It'd make things way more interesting. Zoe from Dinosaur King was one good example. The problem is that, it's Pokemon. Misty was good example.
