Pets dying !

I guess you were not that attached to your pets then? Pets can play a huge part in people's lives and as a companion they are amazing. There is very little that gives love the way a pet can.
 
With everyone criticising people being sad/mourning over a pet? Why else do people get pets? As unless you're disabled or in the police/customs/rescue/military/agriculture/need a guard dog, you didn't get the pet for a practical purpose did you? People get pets for reasons including companionship.
 
Its been so hard for me to not to post what i think of certain people in this thread, which i know will end up with me being banned. Seems like there are a lot of heartless memebers on here
 
Just because people have different opinions to you on the subject of pets doesn't make them heartless and shouldn't make them the target of some of the venom being exhibited on this thread.

Most other nationalities aren't as sensitive as the British are in relation to their pets. The French for example eat horse which is something that we view as sacrosanct, Koreans are partial to a tasty dog whilst guinea pig is considered a delicacy in Peru..

In the early 20th century it would have been fairly common in Germany to eat "blockage mutton" and it was only in 1986 that the killing of dogs for food was banned there.
 
I cried when I heard that John Peel had died. I cried when I heard that Frank Sidebottom was no longer with us. I did not cry when Princess Diana died. Nor did I cry when my grandparents died.
I will cry when my two cats are no more, but will not start a general chat forum about the event, unless they are murdered by a neigrabroadours builders dog on the loose.......

We are all individuals and deal with things in different ways.
 
Surely if the people who don't feel a certain way about pets are happy to criticise people for feeling sad enough at the death of their pet to cry and/or share on a forum, they should not complain about getting the same treatment back?

If someone's weird for loving an animal enough to mourn its death, I don't find it unfair to call someone who doesn't weird as well.
