Pets dying !

This is a general forum so people can generally post what they like.

That's kinda the point of a forum no?

Just don't read what doesn't interest you.

Nigel is perfectly entitled to post his story.

I'm not gonna bother posting my thoughts about signs.........

I think you've got to be quite emotionless to not feel upset when your dog dies. My sisters dog got ran over last week, a lovely friendly jack russell. I took him to the vet and the thing that made a speck of dust suddenly appear in my eye was when he was lying in his basket unable to move but still managed a little wag of his tail when she kneeled down to give his head a stroke while we were waiting to see if they were going to have to put him down.
He's going to be ok, but I'd have been upset if he'd died as he's such a happy friendly little lad and he's not even my dog!

I did read. Humans are part of the animal kingdom. They are animals that evolved from apes.

I was fully aware what you were saying but I thought I'd treat your broad brush generalism with some pedantry of my own.

Cheers,

Nigel

Maybe his wife that has now passed, or his children now busy with thier own lives or living far away, maybe that dog is his only other daily living contact, maybe you should think before you belittle other peoples feelings?

Why do people bother to say "Rest In Peace" or write RIP when someone dies? Who's it aimed at and why? Now that's something which is totally pointless IMHO!!

Seriously cannot believe you felt the need to start this thread "Signs". About six month's ago we had my Mum's Persian put down, seemed the most humane thing to do as we'd seen the other Persian cat we had go downhill in a similar way and probably prolonged it's life to long in that instance. Thing is, that cat had sat on my Mum's lap practically every night of the 17+ years he'd been with us and was easily the best Brithday present I'll ever buy my Mum in my lifetime I'm sure. You simply cannot just imo write off such forms of companionship. It's actually upset me a little bit this thread, I guess I can expect to be mocked if this forums anything to go by for being that candid.

In all seriousness, I've missed the two cats more than me Nan & Grandad's passing if I'm honest as they were more a part of my life. Imagine how abhorrent that would be if I started a thread along those lines, be bang out of order.

Seemingly because I asked you not to take the thread off topic?

And apparently you have "lost all respect" for me for doing so? Seriously? Regardless of whether Nigel was posting about the loss of his beloved cat or the fact that he had stubbed his toe, he was clearly upset and his thread wasn't the place to air your negative thoughts about it.

Thing I like about pets is their honesty, the affection your given during their lifetime is for my money unconditional, just requires a regular feed and a drop of water every now and again. That's something that I'd argue is not prevalent in the human race from the day they are born.

I'll give you an example, sat down trying to eat a meal yesterday, my 3 month old Nephew starts giving it the big one because he hasn't been fed for all of two hours. I understand he neeRAB to cry, it's in his nature. But you don't get a pet kicking off big time because you've perhaps got up late and your an hour late filling up the food bowl, changing the water

I have had cats, I love them. When my first cat died, at the age of 18,I was working as a postman. My mum come and told me when I was on my round.I cried in the street.I had had him from the age of 3 (me,not him).I didn't feel the need to inform my work colleagues, or even my frienRAB.This was before the days of the internet, so was unable to post on a forum, or inform the world via Facebook, but then I wouldn't do so anyway.

I guess its just the way of the world now, where every facet of our lives is fair game to be aired to total strangers without erabarrassment ,although maybe the fact that it can be done relatively anonymously helps.
It seems to have started when Princess Diana ,who most people had never met in their lives died, and the whole country seemed to go mad and weep for her.

I just can't help but wonder what's fair game now as far as threaRAB go.

I'd like to think a thread with the following title would be shut down pretty quick on here but now I'm not so sure :

"400 Soldiers Dead in Afghanistan, but hey, they knew the risks"

Everyone has their own ideas of what sort of thing is in poor taste and shouldn't be allowed so the moRAB have a difficult job to do.

To my mind this was a valid enough thread even if it wasn't in the best possible taste but there again we have threaRAB devoted to dog crap all over the floor so who is going to be the arbiter of what's in good taste anyway.

I take the Clarkson approach to this issue. "The owners concerned should be shot" and preferably castrated prior to their execution.
