Portion control contributes a lot to obesity too. I know it does mine.
I was pretty horrified when I stepped on a scale at work recently and
tipped it to 191.n lbs! Ugh! I knew I had put on a few lbs over the
Winter and Holidays, but now I have a number to put to it! :-(

I don't enjoy black coffee anywhere near as much. Maybe I should give

narcotics, and feeling less groggy.

I've pretty much switched over to water to accompany meals. I drink
coffee and tea, but only rarely... like when I go out for brunch with
friends, for instance. I guess you could call me a "social drinker"
now. We keep milk in the house to pour over cereal and I chug a glass
on occasion - in fact I did that yesterday.

Well, if that's the case, which Bryan didn't make clear initially...
the guy could have done what he wanted. Personally, I don't drink a
large cup's worth so I get a small and refill if it's necessary
(almost never) when I go to a fast food joint with that set up. But
he's right and you're right about just taking the big cup and not
filling it up. Did Bryan notice if he stayed of left? If he left,
maybe his cup holder doesn't hold the gigantic size.

Ooops, correction. The soda and iced tea are self serve at McD. The coffee
is from the counter. Good coffee though, Newman's Own. Any size for $1,
but a senior coffee is only 79?. Burger King varies. Some are counter, some
are self serve, all are terrible, IMO, Seattle's Best.

Some here have self serve. Some do not. I think a lot depends on the
location. If they are in an area where people are just going to come in and
steal drinks, they probably won't have the self serve.

The Target here has self serve drinks. There is a sign on the Icee machine
telling you please not to take refills. Of course everyone does! They do
allow refills on the other soft drinks. What people tend to do is drink
their drink, put their cup in their cart, do their shopping and then refill
their drink. Now they are telling people that they can get refills for a
period of up to two hours. Sadly, some people just take advantage.

I could never do that. Once I leave, I'm done and would be embarrassed to
come back an hour later. Soda is probably the most profitable item they
have, but it just seem tacky to expect refills hours later.

No problem, I was talking about soda and that god awful tea too. I
did buy coffee, but I could see there was no self serve soda.

In my geography some are self server some aren't.

I tend to prefer the coffee at Burger King though they are inconsistent
in quality so I try to remember the ones with the better coffee. I
prefer my coffee cooled down to the point I can drink it comfortably
and I also prefer not splashing coffee all over the place. Those bits
add together so I remember the local BKs that include coffee in their
self service. I get the cup, put in a known amount of ice, top with
coffee to get coffee at my preferred temperature.

BK brews "Seattle's Best Coffee" which is Starbucks. Feeling they'd run
their name into the ground they changed their name.

I've never bought coffee from BK so I wouldn't know. The only problem
I have with coffee at Starbucks is that they brew it for middle
Americans, so it's too weak and tastes like dirty dishwater to me.
The coffee I got from McD's seems to be drifting in that direction
too. Not a good sign, AFAIC.

I agree that McD's coffee is too hot, even *after* the lawsuit... but
that's fine with me, because I can use lots of cream and not cool off

They didn't change the coffee after the lawsuit you know. It was in
accordance with ANSI and SCAA standards. What they did do was put up
"coffee is hot, you moron" signs.

Later somebody tried to sue Bunn, who made the coffee maker that
McDonalds used. Bunn trotted out the standards, and that was the end of
that.

BK's is decent, and McD's is a bit better than that.

No, it was almost certainly just knuckleheadedness.

In one way I'm feeling a bit foolish myself. I talked to the
personnel lady at work today.
I really had no business playing with those kids like I was half my
age. I'm getting workers'
comp for the first time, and am wearing my first ever hard cast. It
itches like heck underneath it,
and the painkillers make it itch worse. I can't cook either, not w/o
help, and why do vintners
still put corks into bottles instead of a screw cap?
Back to another episode of I Dream of Jeannie on TV Land.
