Only Connect (BBC4)

I caught this by accident too, not helped by such a clumsy title.

Got one answer on the French prime numbers: onze (11, which I suspect many others did) and then almost instantly kicked myself when then faced with X and said Dix (10) instead of deux (2). D'oh!

Loving Ms Coren, quite like the on-the-face-of-it blonde bint who's actually more than a bit intelligent and stern!

I know!!! I read that back and it sounded like a free advert for the show, but I can assure you as an independent librarian from Northern ireland, I just love my 'high end' quiz shows, and am very happily unaffiliated.

Some don't seem to work for me. I pick 4 which I know are connected but Vicky tells me I'm wrong. Then I get to the end and request the answers and it tells me the ones I picked were in fact a group. Sulk!

Yes, I think the missing vowel round was easier than usual - I normally get none at all but got most of the French worRAB (including Deja Vu twice) and the volcanoes.

Hope this isn't a sign of dumbing down...

She was quite entertaining on QT. Some very strange comparisons of polititians, policies and her private life :D

"The dress is unzipped but the bra is still on"

You have to love Vicky.
'Welcome to the show which the Daily Mirror described as 'weird'. You have two teams, who get points if they get an answer right. And at the end the team with the most points wins.'
All delivered totally deadpan. :D :D :D :D

And I'm classing myself a genius tonight after getting the 'Racehorse: 18' answer purely on that clue. :)

Without giving anything openly away I was well pleased with the result.

That Mark from the Rugby Players was well peed off and as he is a professional quizzer from other programmes I just sat there with a big smile on my face.

Great comeback in the missing vowel round by the strategists, if they hadn't have performed so poorly with the wall they would have won. Excellent series, excellent final and I can't wait for the next series.

I got a couple in the missing vowels round as well 'Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned' and 'Abscence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder' and also recognised the terms for mad - Mad as a March Hare etc - though I've heard 'Daft as a Brush' as well, maybe its just me.

many thanks KennyT - I'll Sky+ it and not worry if it appears to be recording the programme before as well (that's what happened on Monday so I stopped the recording of the preceding programme only to find that it had also stopped the Only Connect recording - I can only believe that I turned over at 8:30 and the record icon was on but for both programmes momentarily - if that makes any sense).

Great news about a new series too

Are you *sure* they are the same four as the ones you chose? The clues are deliberately designed to fit into more than one category sometimes, but there's only one way in which all 16 clues fit into 4 groups of 4.

If, despite this, you're sure there's an error, please let me know.

Thanks,

David
