OK, so why isn't the public screaming for alternative energy NOW?

It's also more important.

Systematic changes to energy production are drastically more significant than individuals scrimping and cutting down their personal energy usage.

that could work for some crops, but you do not want to be eating actual vegetables (like lettuces, spinach, broccoli....not something that is technically a fruit) cause they will be loaded with nitrates

Again, because we CHOOSE to not focus more intently on developing cheaper methods of developing alternative energy

Srs question, I know everyone screams that nuclear is "unsafe" and all, but what's the problem with keeping the reactors in completely uninhabited areas? Would it cost too much to deliver the energy to its destinations?

No, people who don't understand that global warming and pollution are two completely separate issues are the ones who are fucking retarded.

Milking the market for cash is my guess.

edit: Not really. I'm sure there were government incentives given out to manufacturers to produce hybrids. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

people have been trying to offer alternatives. I'm not saying we shouldn't strive for it, but at this point nothing is realistic without a massive overhaul of the system.

solar panels? take oil to produce. electric cars? take oil to produce.

the amount of energy produced by an "alternative energy" needs to be > than the amount of energy used to produce it
