*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Keep in mind, the prototypes of the N85 had good build quality...Eldar at mobile-review said that none of the problems production N85s had were present

More than likely they skimped on the production models. Of course the prototypes would be good quality, that's how they gain hype!

Give it a rest dude!

It IS often I do EXACTLY this sort of thing, so I speak from experience.

I've done it with the N95-3, N85-1, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1i, and now with the iPhone 3G. With the exception of the N95-3 (I held onto it for a year), I sold the other phones to at least break even with exactly what I paid for them (I got good deals on the phones, though, so that helped with not losing too much). You got the phone for $500, which is $100 of the next best price.. it's not going to dip to that price for a while. You could EASILY sell it for the price you paid for it, if not more, if you treat it with care while you own it. The N97 could easily be the next phone I sell away to at least break even, and transition to another phone.

If you paid $770, fine, fair enough, I would see your complaints. But at $500 I honestly can't see why you're complaining so much. You're acting like it's a $500 no-name phone that no one is going to buy used. That's NOT the case, and it's NOT the end of the world.

Except that they are totally straying from the proper nomenclature. 335i doesn't necessarily mean you get a 3.5L engine (actually it doesn't mean you get a 3.5L engine at all LOL). I'm not sure what they're doing anymore with BMWs

Never said it was going to be a Nokia.

Whatever it is probably hasn't even been announced yet and it nothing more than sketches and clay moldings on some developer's easel right now. I'd take a closer look at the Idou if it had a keyboard and wasn't made by Sony Ericsson (no other manufacturer would use that huge bulge as a lens cover).

Sr1329 you usually make sound post, but with this statement you lost alot of credibility, Apple is the biggest offender of making something out of nothing
Just look at all the ads, i really like reading your post and maybe today is a bad day for you but this is just way off the mark. :buddies:

Yea i know I saw that. At first i thought it was impressive... but then... where would the rest of the world, including Japan, be at 10 years from now? :P

We're still gonna be behind

I threw together a quick ESPN widget that returns the scores of mlb games and stats, and installed it in the emulator. Its nowhere near finished as I do it on my free time at work. Its not styled yet, nor refreshes automatically. The emulator acts weird with it though at the moment (I am only using standard JS, there may be ways to better manipulate the homescreen part since it is currently showing what it wants). Does anybody know of a quick and easy window capturing app so I can post it?

Im still to lazy to sacrifice a lunch break to walk to the Nokia store lol.

And it's not on your My Stuff page on the website? I see your aggravation. I'm sure if you can get in touch with someone at support, they can help you. Don't give up. Check out http://blog.ovi.com and perhaps you can get in contact with someone on the Ovi team...after you get your apps or money back, then you can turn your back on Nokia cuz that's ridiculous. That's the kind of poor customer service that caused me to never shop at Future Shop & Best Buy ever again.

Yea, all of the videos I have seen have been hit or miss also.

While I haven't played with a 5800, I can see that it's definitely a bit picky with the way it wants to input the touches. The iPhone was a bit ahead of it's time (technology/software wise) and still is two years later. It's still doing what no one else can seem to figure out (provide a simple, intuitive, responsive OS)

Once we get it in our hands, only time will tell.

Actually what the Nokia CS rep told me is that in case of preorders they kinda test-authorize the amount every 10 days with the credit card company to make sure that the money will be available after they actually ship it.
