*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Is there a nokia conversations version for s60v5? Hopefully there's some type of threaded sms app available...

Actually now that i think about it compared to my e71, texring might be a huge PITA. On my e71, no matter where i am in my phone menu or app, when that new text beep comes in, just one press of the contacts button goes right to my threaded sms. With s60v5 will i have to minimize whatever i'm doing and then find my text app to go read my new text? I hope there's an efficient way to do all this like i have now on the e71. I just ordered a 5800 so we'll see i guess.

Did I miss anything?

I wasn't aware that the iPhone browser has a text-finder function. That's one of the few things I found that the S60 browser does better, although the fact that it can't cut/copy/paste in the browser sucks.

do you think that the final product of the n97 will have those smooth transitions like the ones in the animated demo? they look really nice. but the ones that were shown at CES (i think?) in real life did not have any kind of transition from portrait to landscape etc...kind of like the 5800 if im not mistaking

all im saying is i hope the final version will have transitions as it makes the whole UI much better imo

@Serpiere

What are you talking about you just can't be serious when you say

"AFAIK only Nokia's have been letting users use bluetooth however they want."

Now you may be right about the lack of use by the iPhone or G1 but as far as Nokia being the only one to allow those things your wrong besides those two devcies nearly all manufacturers implement full Bluetooth not just Nokia. Just for your knowledge it was actually Ericsson that lead the way in Bluetooth and was the founder member of the Bluetooth Interest group back in the late 90's.

@Rapidstar

With all due respect this isn't your Forum and your not even a Moderator you just don't have the right to tell anyone what they may or may not post. If you don't like it don't read it or complain to a Mod but basically you and all the others that feel they can harass others and tell them what they can post or not just don't have the right to do it. So follow your own advice and stop posting rubbish repeatedly that has nothing to do with the thread and let all that want to express thier opinions freely do so without persecution.

One thing I really liked about my iPhone was the auto ambient light sensor. Anyone now if the N97 does anything like that, or if there is any app for that?

Likewise, I use Nokia Email to check my messages more than I use a PC nowadays. The only thing that bites is that there is still no HTML support for Mobile Email clients (I receive a lot of pictures in my email that are embedded instead of attached). Even then, I just launch the S60 browser or Skyfire and view the messages that way.

I hope this doesnt get compared to the iPhone, it's WAY ahead of the iPhone from the services point of view AND technology wise.

Comparing it would still imply iPhone is an advanced piece of technology when it's not.

@ Finaldecision: Nice pic...the N97 seems to take clear photos with nice color and depth. One thing I've noticed on mine-and yours here-is the sky is pretty washed out..any photo people have a take or solution to that?

they're the same. From Eldar's review:
