*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

WTF!! Widgets, widgets, widgets, widgets.............that's all I hear are complaints about widgets. BIIIIIIIIIG DEAL!!
I could care less about the widgets and whether there are too many of them or too few of them. The widgets that "ARE" available on the N97 are good enough for me and they should also be good enough for you too. STOP complaining about the widgets. What a bunch of babies.
The N97 can do a lot and it's a lot of phone if you compare it to the iPhone (which to me is inferior to the N97) and to other phones on the market. I'm sick and tired of the cry babies in here complaining about what N97 can and cannot do. No phone that's currently selling on the market is going to be 100% perfect and make everyone 100% happy. Just live with it. And if you don't like the heat get out of the kitchen and go buy yourself an iPhone.

Yah I just don't see the harm in putting it in. I doubt it will drastically reduce the use of the physical keyboard (if that's something they're worried about). It's a nice to have that I think should be included...whether or not you think you would use it or not.

It just depends. I was just reading a twitter convo and someone said audio themes wasn't present until they performed a hard reset.

Coming in my review on Friday. I beat the battery to hell last week and it still managed to last at least 10 hrs each day. This week I'm testing it under normal usage conditions.

We're talking about the screen though. And my main point was that if you want to get comparative with resistive screens, WinMo phones is a good jumping off point.

I already have one, hence I know how a touch screen interface should be implemented.

By the way the 5800 is an embarrassment as a comparison to the iPhone. The only reason it works is because it costs $300. In that sense it is better than anything else for the money. As a competitor to the iPhone it is junk.

The platform is intended to compete with the iPhone and on the 5800 it is ****. If they can fix it up for the N97 then good. If not, it will suck compared compared to 3.0 or Pre. Knowing Nokia's software development pace I still won't believe a damn thing until I see it.

If you've been a Nokia user for years, you would know that they have a history of hyping up every little thing like Kinetic scrolling and little things. Others like Google and Apple just put it in, they don't have to make a big deal about it with a video. If anything Nokia still has not demonstrated a system wide kinetic scrolling implementation. When is that coming? For the N99?

Each platform has it is strengths and weaknesses, but S60v5 has a lot to prove. The others have gotten their touch interface to an evolved position, Nokia has not done that yet. Similarly Apple has not gotten it's feature set complete yet. But we know those are coming for sure. Video editing app announced today. It's always better to make sure the interface works before loading up features. Nokia is doing it ***-backwards, so I guess they do have to brag about one small part of doing a touch interface correctly: kinetic scrolling in the browser. I read the mailbox still has that retarded tiny scroll bar on the side. Just read the AAS comments it's all there.

This guy knows so little he doesn't know that Nokia's Linux is the most mainstream mobile linux version yet. Its basically the desktop debian with a few optimizations for small screens, the tons of ports of OpenOffice and other desktop programs should tip him off.

True for the moment but things are changing fast. Samsung have been outselling Nokia recently in many European markets. They've upped their game and the quality of their products. If Nokia doesn't address this then their market share will tumble.

If you read the review, people are giving some harsh ratings because MCO called them to confirm their credit card information or shipped a day later than expected. You don't have anything to worry about.
