*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Lets just say Nokia has followed the slogan "Open to Anything" but this device is not Android.

Just found out.. this device was actully already announced 4 months ago.

You should be able to re-download your applications.
From your browser go to store.ovi.com, log in and click My Applications.
There you will see a list of all the applications you downloaded. Click the application you want and from there select Send to Mobile. An SMS with the link to download the app will arrive shortly after. If you do not see the Send to Mobile link, go to account settings and add your telephone number.

I guess some like "best thing" phones or what not. Taking an older phone and just adding some features that were missing can do it for me. I.e take a n95 + keyboard + larger screen = Me happy. Thats what I am looking at the n97. Seems to be the N95 + what it want that it's missing.

Just go back and read all of this guys posts. Every time he keeps saying Nokia has this and that and it blew his socks off and he felt fellated or whatever and when the announcements come it's the same old rehash scene. Sorry Gwapz but you know its true.

That having been said, I think Nokia is in a good position to weather the storm because if you've noticed they are in an excellent position to offer the most functionality for the buck. I mean just look at the E55. That phone might be the cheapest E-series or N-series but it is so desirable still. It will sell like crazy. They really are masters at taking the cheapest hardware and making it handle functions nobody else could coax from that hardware. Besides S40 and below is where the money is at. As for high-end, it's looks terrible, the N97 is not a high-end device in my eyes, in fact I'd say the N86 looks more tempting to me of the two. But that's me.

Yes I have, but about three to four years ago. I don't remember the model number. I went from S60 to S40 because of the 8800, then just bought a 6500classic.
Why?

I'm not criticizing him because of his view on the N97 keyboard. From what I've read, his criticism is valid.

I just thought he'd have some comparitive feedback on the difference between the less than stellar hardware keyboard on the N97 and the implementation of the on-screen keyboard of the OmniaHD.

Yes, you can cancel the data plan later.

If you cancel the contract within 30 days then you need to return the iphone and get refunded.

If you cancel the contract after 30 days then you need to pay an early termination fee (like $175 per line) and you get to keep the iphone.

My E71 is still lightning fast and I always have at least 4 apps open (Conversations, Nokia Email, Podcasting and Mobbler are always running in the background). The funny thing is sometimes I'll open the browser to surf to something quickly and Handy Taskman will show that I only have 20MB of free RAM yet it's still fast.

Use Martin Fields, go into the bathroom turn on the shower, steam up the place and apply it in there. Works every time. No dust, it precipitates in the humidity.

If you go do it now and enter the coupon code, it removes the BT headset and gives you 10% off but from what I understand, Nokia is cancelling these pre-orders and telling people to pay regular price for it and take the headset. That's what they're talkin about on Engadget I guess. It only sucks for me because if I had gotten a white one, you bet your *** I'd have the Canadians in this thread fighting to the death for it

30 days and bounce. If they don't detect you using an iPhone then they can't force you to use the iPhone plan even if the subsidy was paid expecting that extra revenue. So screw AT&T make your monthly rape-age go for some use.

seriously, stfu with this MIF crap. It's old. we went through this years ago. there is no difference between phones based on where they are made. If you perceive a difference, it is only because your perception has been altered to think there is one. This MIF nonsense is like a plague.

Ah Putty will be a definite. Is there any sort of VPN (PPTP/L2TP/openVPN(SSL) client for S60 that will work on N97?

In addition to a good chunk of music (how much will be dependent on if I see any effect from near filling it or not. I'll want to leave at least an arbitrary 10GB or so free, most likely on the internal.

I'll be plopping on at least 5 or 6 ripped DVDs I already have in mp4 for my iPod classic. Might be breaking out Handbrake to get them in a more suitable resolution... or not, depending how the initial transfers look.

Thinking best place I see for microSD is mwave.com. I'm local so can will-call/pick up but still get stuck with the taxes. Looking at about $70 for 16GB Transcend class 6. Will almost certainly be replacing for a 32GB if/when they come out.

It was supposed to have been released today, and I guess technically it was, but all the retailers that were supposed to have it are out of stock. :befuddled

Part of the reason I was so geared up about the N97 was because it was a new device that I really expected to launch in April or May. Then I heard it was June and Samsung announced the i8910 (which matched my needs more) and said it was supposed to be out in April. Now they both look like they'll be more widely available for a decent price in the middle of June, which was much later than I wanted to own either device. I'm so sick of waiting.
