The iPhone 3G is not 2 years old, is it? Apple's favorite MO is incremental upgrades to the iPod line while keeping the price point the same.
Sounds like Nokia's, too. Always 550 Euros. Incremental upgrades. Looks like introduction of N95 was the exception rather than the rule. N97 is just following a more usual pattern
Too many people looking at the N95 as the benchmark when it's pretty unique in Nokia's history the way it seemed to jumped tech and push the envelope like that... Even so, or all it's hardware advances, it was behind in basic UI. UIQ had been doing touchscreen for what, 3 years already? And iPhone came out the same year right while lacking basic functionality common in smartphones for same said 2 years and subject to draconian and arbitrary corporate control and the veto of new apps by the US carrier. Definitely NOT the path for Nokia to follow.
