*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I'm serious, if a N97-2 with better specs materializes in any time frame (I won't mind if they come up with a N98 or N99 in a year) I will stop buying their phones. By then probably the iPhone will probably have a 5MP camera with flash.

For years now I've used Boxwave.com's "ClearTouch"; on the Palm V, Xv, and T3 (mm, I think there was another Palm in there somewhere), then on the HP iPaq 210 and Nokia's N800. I have tried other brands before Boxwave released their version on a couple of items. I can not recall what brand I'm using on my N95 but it's probably a Boxwave.

I did try InvisibleShield on the Nokia N800 but did not like it so went back to Boxwave.

Went to Boxwave's site yesterday but they don't list the N97 yet so I entered a request for the N97.

I'll try to stick with the one that comes on the N97 until Boxwave releases one for the N97.

Boxwave ClearTouch are way overpriced at about $12 each! But they do last for years, don't scratch, are very clear, and have good anti-glare qualities.

No, I don't work for Boxwave nor do I have any connection with them at all apart from being very happy with the quality of the protectors.

I think it will all depend on how Nokia decides to market the N97. It's too soon to say anything definitive about the final product, but this form factor has the potential to be appealing to most segments of the market.

It's just stupid that all their S60 phones get such general model numbers as names. Which casual user is going to know the difference between the i8510 and the i8910 without sitting on GSMArena for 10 minutes combing over specs? At least when people heard OmniaHD, they knew they were getting something special

Ha Ha, the only thing Nokia has going for it is hardware. See: N95, E-series.

Their software is ****, see: OVI, Nokia Messaging, Nokia Maps, Nokia Conversations, Nokia Bull ****.

You don't iunderstand it because I didn't list the QWERTY keyboard.
I've been wanting a QWERTY slider for years now, but my only options were Windows Mobile.

ps: allegiance to nokia? nope
True, all of my phones have been Nokia, but i make informed choices. Since January I've been hesitating between Palm Pre, N97, and HTC Magic...I ruled the Magic out once I reminded myself that I needed a QWERTY keyboard...then it was REALLY tight between the Pre and the N97...I couldn't make a choice...but there is no way in Hell I would go to Sprint. I only use GSM phones since I'm not from the US and go back home frequently. So that's the reason I'm not getting a Pre.
