*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Never! I had to order it the first day it become available worldwide. I don't care if it's from the US, the UK, or some other place in Europe, this phone will make its way to Canada within the first weeks of release... just not at 850 euros... im sure some other place will have it at 1k... has to...

yea I am, but based on the past Id say its more than likely to come out before the N97. Hopefully it wont be 1k like we all know the N97 will be initially

There are a few places where it would be nice if they implement actions for swipe left and swipe right. In calender view, use the swipes to go to the next or previous month/week/day/appointment... Same thing in text messages, notes, and contacts. What do you all think?

Well when you add $10 for shipping and $5 for the holding fee (that's if they don't make you rent a mailbox like they do in Canada) then remember that it's all in US Dollars and add the gas to drive to Buffalo, you might as well just get it from SN Traders or find an online retailer that will ship to .ca

anyone who preorders do you find it odd they are charging sales tax? do you live in the states where there is a nokia store? IE Il, NY? if yuor not concerned you should be. they have to have a state tax id. i doubt they have an id for all 50 states. so call the state tax commision and ask if they have the tax id. if not then they cannot pay the state the tax they collect which means they are back dooring a nice percentage extra onto the bill.

For a company who wishes to have a bigger impact in the US but only has flagship stores in two major US cities with no plans on opening stores in other cities their actions seem to contradict their words.

Just my .02.

Where exactly do you see S60 5th Edition? The Samsung Impression is a dumbphone, the only reason it looks so much like the OmniaHD is because they both use the TouchWiz UI

Oh, I know, don't get me started. I was really hoping the iPhone would be able to change people's understanding of buying a phone and activating it themselves (separating the carrier from the device), but all that went to hell when they launched the iPhone 3G with in-store only activations.

Actually, I would disagree, I think that the NAM one is absolutely necessary and Nokia will have to release one. AT&T is moving over to the 850MHz 3G band and thus 1900 just won't cut it anymore.

I have a family plan with 2 lines sharing minutes - so 1 iphone per line.

AT&T will force you to sign up for a data plan on each iphone, but you can cancel them after you get the phones.

Technically speaking each line in itself is a contract with AT&T. The iphone just force you to sign up for a data plan for each line.
