*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

One thing that always scared me... how come in all the videos and all the previews, the home screen NEVER has a background wallpaper?... it always has just a plain color, they trying not to show something...? And this device should support animated wallpapers no? lol, i wanna make it look like my Vista experience

It troubles me that you're not bothered by that :D

I think it will be like the price of the E90 when it first came out and drop to the $799 range in a couple of months.

So I just got my amazon email "Estimated arrival date: June 15 2009 - July 06 2009". This was with super saver shipping. Im thinking of now changing it to 2nd day air. Don't know if I want to possibly wait till July.

And you can add
Samsung disadvantage:
Very rare firmware updates

Nokia advantage:
Ovi Store (This is huge)

Nokia disadvantage:
NAM models lack's or gets very late firmware updates (hopefully this will change)

Nokiausa.com, N97 is no longer pre order. You add black and white both in the cart, then white one will show at pre order.Currently, under pre order tab, no pre order phones, also there is a tab that says 'Buy Now' N97.Is Nokiausa doing what I think they are doing? I don't think they have the phone in stock and trying to attract customers by writing that the phone is in stock.

Hey Tkao Thank you u never made silly remarks towards the device you gave your honest opinion, i was going to cancel my pre order even though i got it for 525.00 in hopes the iphone 3gs wowed me, but after i saw that nothing has changed aside from them showing things i already can do(maybe not as smooth) i said forget the iphone especially for the price it will be 499.00 for me to upgrade, then sign 2yr deal and add 20.00 more a month for more data for a device that aside from the ui has nothing more on the n97.
:buddies:

I didn't see any separate plugs for charging in the phonescoop vid, so it is probably like the N85...
and it looks like the USB port is in a much better location...

I do agree, but i come to the conclusion that all touch screens are for the most part 2 handed devices iphone included for sure, so if thats the case for you why are you so interested in the iphone, if your preference is to be discreet, i love my n85 for that very reason i can hold my 2month old , browse the web zoom in and out text all with one hand, if i tried that on the 5800 i have i would have a coronary same with the iphone when i had it they arent really 1 handed devices although they can be used here and there with 1 hand. :buddies:

From the Review of Nokia N97 posted a couple of pages back:

What exactly does this mean? Are we talking about the next N810? If not, why would Nokia kill its N97 by releasing specs on the next gen phone before the N97 is even on the shelves?

I am very excited about the N97 hardware specs, but the screenshots of the software leave a lot to be desired.

And do we really need N on our phones?

Alright, i guess we would if your home/work environment only had a 5ghz wifi deployment it would make sense.

Also, if you are in the NY area check out the NYC Meetup for probably the last chance to play w/ a N97 before they are launched. http://s60users.com/?p=104

Did you see the scrolling on the currency app? Have they learned nothing? No kinetic scroll in widgets? So half-***ed in implementation it's not even funny.
