*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Yup because I know that if I buy the white one, I won't be able to get back equal value a couple months later when the black one drops because the phone as a whole will probably be cheaper.

What is with you and gaming? Have you ever heard of a Game Boy? No? What about a PSP?

Do you know what the only advantage of N-Gage is? When you hack your phone, the games are all free. That's it. If not for that, I would have never used it on my N95 at all.

It appears to me that a very small majority is complaining about the email handling on the N97 and NOkia in general. Most people (including moi) have no idea what "exchange" is, what it does, etc. If I was Nokia I wouldn't pay much attention to the complaints at this time; but I'd log them for future purposes if needed

Until I get MY N97, not a proto or a demo, I will refrain from making judgements. I have been a early adopter for a few Nokia units and every time an anticipated unit is released it is the same thing, a lot of Hofoers start judging it from bloggers, protos, demos and reviewers opinions. If the unit works for me than that is all that matters. Build quality, functions, sound quality and a lot of other things are all subjective. What works for me may not work for someone else.

Maybe if your donut has features the the jelly donut doesn't (sprinkles?). In which case jelly donut buyers become the idiots. ;) Especially if it's a putrid jelly.

Would the $5 roll of quarters in my pocket put that in better perspective? :allred:

Hi all,

I received the above VodaFone offer via E-Mail for pre ordering and that's roughly the same price as the i8910HD is with Orange. It does look there is a concerted effort by all the UK Networks now to try and move us to 24 month contracts and higher monthly spends. We no longer seem able to get premium priced products @?35pm on a 18 month contract for free and i for one am not interested in a 24 month contract as have so far never kept any devcie for 1 year so 2 yeras is impossible for me. I'm also not going to pay ?150 on top of a ?35pm contract either. It will be interesting to see how the Networks respond if enough of us don't go for this new pricing structure.

Well, I have to wait until tomorrow after work because someone in Fedex thought it was cool to delay my package to fit their estimated delivery... :disappoin

I hope I really like it when I got it because I've never waited so long for something I bought :D

The mini-qwerty from the 5800 would be welcome on the larger screened N97. Pretty sure they're not going to include it though. Even so, the mini-qwerty is placed near the middle of the screen, not the bottom, and doesn't even stretch all the way across the screen. Why would you expect the idiots who thought of that abysmal mini-qwerty to implement a good on screen qwerty for the N97? It's definitely not likely we'll have any other option besides the portrait T9. I have a feeling that the checkmark isn't going anywhere, either.

If you expect it to come, maybe on the very last FW update for the N97. Look how long it took Android to release onscreen qwerty via Cupcake; I believe they only did it because the G1 is at the end of its line and the keyboard-less version is coming out soon.

Actually, they couldn't. The TI OMAP3- series uses Cortex A8 architecture, so they'd have to refit the phone with a completely new board altogether, or, translated, rebuild it. I'm sure we'll see such a thing from them eventually, maybe in the middle of 2010?

If his posts are longer than 3 lines long, I get bored and skip it. But I'm a fan!

Just you wait. Your journey into getting screwed by Nokia has only just begun. I'm not saying it to try to be a jerk or anything, but given your recent phone history, you haven't even begun to understand how good they are at stringing their customers along. You're going to find the N97 "good enough" and secretly hope that their next model will fix all the issues you have (memory errors, slow operation during critical functions, poor gaming, etc.,). Then you'll buy next year's flagship, and the next, each with a minor improvement filling the void created by the previous device and by the time you've spent several grand with them, one day you'll notice what the competition is doing and be mad as hell.

I never thought I'd say this, but I would probably recommend waiting for the next iPhone rather than waste $700 on Nokia's bridge to their next high-margin flagship.

yeah don't get me wrong i love the phone, but im switching over to ATT in july and i want a 3G capable phone, and plus i've had the phone for a while now and i'm bored of it

I have it jailbroken but I don't see a way to copy my PDF files to the phone to be able to read it on the go, is there an app or fix for that? If so that would be great.
