*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

They are not that stupid. If you knew anything about Apple, for all the faults and issues they don't mess around on such things. FYI, I didn't even charge it last night and it lasted me all day today. The E66 can never last all day if I forgot to charge it every night.

The new processors obviously come with a whole new generation of power management chips. They are also fabbed on a smaller process. Very likely 45nm. ARM themselves in the A8 obviously thought through battery life issues. They are targeting cell phones.

If they were going ARM11, they have 620Mhz on the iPod touch. Also since Palm Pre is the target, it is very likely A8.

3 devices will come out with that same processor at the same speed this year, so 3 different manufacturers have dealt with this new core. They all are aiming for better than 4 hours use.

It's the standard for 2009 Flagships except for Nokia. :D

They truly are special.

BTW, except for the 8KHz audio issue the OnmiaHD is looking like the multimedia phone of the year. What great camera interface + picture results. Kicks N86 back to before 2006.

I have yet to see a single out of memory message on my E71. I can do pretty much anything with it very fluently and without any problems. Including YouTube of course (I love core player by the way).

Just one question in regards of the N97, is it possible to type (t9 or what not) with the device held vertically with one hand? Is there a software input keyboard like the 5800?

I'm seriously debating between the n97 or the Pr?.

Cheers,
Rayanmx

Preordered my unit and i am also using an Iphone. Does the software support Threaded Messaging like the Iphone?....also after reading some many problems with email here on the forum Im getting worried..should i be?

They were taking pre-orders for E75 for the past 2 months & it is still not shipped. So you can guess when they will ship N97? Don't expect until July/Aug even Sep ;) And we all know what happened to 5800 pre-orders :)

I've seen a few around but I certainly wouldn't call it 'very popular'. Stores were even complaining about the huge number of returns of the N96 because customers who upgraded felt it was too similar to their N95s.

Thank you for that, its good to know. The thing is I know that the N97 will kill the E71 in terms of multimedia, but at the end of the day I use my phone only when I'm out and about. If I need to watch a ,movie, seriously watch a youtube video, etc, I just watch it on my 22 inch screen on my desktop. I love the E71 because its easy as hell as a phone and efficient in every way. I will give the N97 a fair shot, but I do seem to always go back to my E71. Lol, the last time I actually sold my E71, in order to give the xperia a fair shot, and I ended up overnighting one from amazon two days later!

I always had the feeling that cnet was the less knowledgeable of all these gadget websites. I read some of their reviews and listen to one of their podcasts and they have me frowning from time to time, wondering if I'm listening to bogus information.
To the guy who mentioned N69, bravo!

If I have to "suffer" through S60v5 I'd at least like to enjoy it on 3.5G.

12.9mm isn't the problem. It's the 123mmx58mm that's getting large. It's not much larger than the N97 but like I said, the N97 is pushing pocketable device limits for me. Anything is going to fell like a rock compared to the E71 though.

And I'll still be smiling when I get my N97 in a couple weeks. I'll still be smiling when I'm using it 6 months from now. I'll even be smiling when it's time to look for something new in 2010. I don't know what that device is gonna be right now but I'll tell you this much, I still won't care what processor it uses as long as it does what I want it to.

How can you say that when you haven't used it yet tho?

This is what I'm talking about. Some of you sound like you're about ready to jump out the window because of some numbers on a page but you haven't even had the phone in your hands yet.

Let's relax a lil bit.

If all the OmniaHDs freeze when you launch the browser and turn off when you receive a call, would you guys still be saying it's better than everything else out there because it has better hardware?

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing. The only thing I remember from past experiences is that it would have to be a firmware discrepancy, like the dozens of Python apps that didn't work on the NAM N95's until they also received their updates.
