*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I hardly go to the movies anymore but when I do, there are at least 5 theaters I just don't go to because of people who think that people came to the movies to watch or listen to them

I see not just one but 2 exposed cables here..

Heh, well I'm from Georgia too but I'm not so short-sighted as to think that a company with very little market-share in the US and lots of market-share in Asia should just ignore Asia because "We're not in Asia." Damn.

Moving on from that. Google and Yahoo Search both came up empty when it came to the Samsung's handwriting recognition capabilities. Maybe you have some more info, since you love the phone so much.

awww man thats so ugly how the WHITE model LED's for the call button is actually offset and you can see them just glowing through the transparent plastic casing.

might have to get the black one now...

Excuses, excuses. They are using a very power efficient 4 year old processor type with a 1500mAH battery.

All widgets can be updated with one polling operation. Certain widgets can define their own update schedules. There can be some amount of intelligence applied to such problems. The thing is that Nokia these days does not have enough and so they can't apply any to their products or software.

I have MFE running push e-mail all day and even on the battery hungry N95 I go through the day. Something like Facebook which needs constant updates like MFE can run without killing your battery. If anything offer users CHOICE.

I, as the user can decide whether I want 15 widgets and make my OWN determination that I would like to trade off some widgets for more battery life or vice versa.

I don't need these clowns to hold my ****ing hand and tell me what's good for me. They were just too lazy to implement multiple home screens so while the Nokia clown himself just said "no" to the question without any further explanation, count on the fanboys making up the excuses now.

I'm very encouraged by everything I'm seeing and reading about the N97 so far. I think they've got a hit on their hands.

I doubt it's for me, because it's going to be too big and klutzy for regular must-have carry. My E71 seems perfect for that...essential business carry.

But the N97 nevertheless looks like a huge hit.

i think the only other thing this phone has competition with is the palm pre but the palm pre is looks like its gonna be one helluva a phone and it will be on all the carriers which is gonna kill nokia in sales but nokia > palm and i will probably get the nokia i just wish the screen is a little bit more sensitive then the 5800

Why is it when someone likes a os or a device its fanboyism, i mean ffr you have a 434 mhz as a fail yet the current iphone uses 412 mhz and works perfectly fine why wont his. I do agree they could have and should have made a bigger and more powerful processor but it doesn't mean fail.
Johnny cat i hear ya but if people wanna buy let them buy you aren't convincing me or anyone else not to as well as we shouldn't convince you.
Liknsmak i have no clue where you stand somedays u all for it others you not but i dont see what is coming out that is anything more special either aside from the hype of the pre, certainly the new iphone isnt creating waves just the 3.0 which can be added to the same ole 412 mhz processor which equalls fail i guess.

The name calling and all the other nonsense should stop, we all have choices and we are all going to live with them. :buddies:

well i know that if you purchase an iphone and then switch to another phone a month later, you are allowed to remove the iphone data plan from your account. you dont have to keep it on for the full 2 years. in fact you are only required to keep iphone data as long as you use an iphone. and once you switch to a different phone, you can switch to the appropriate data plan as well.

my question more was about which iphone is better to do this? the last time when iphone 3g came out the old 2g iphone was more valuable cause it could be unlocked and jailbroken. i'm betting the newly announced iphone cannot be hacked right away.

is the older 3g iphone hackable? on which firmware? am i forced to open the box and activate the iphone in the store, lowering the resale value? lots of questions.

well that makes perfect sense based on the post i made when i was all excited when i thought i found some secret database screenshot, when really it was just their website inventory! it always indicated 6/29 as ETA, and it seems like just NOW they decide to email that info to you. oh well, its looking like the n97 really wont be here for another month. ratcrap.

Let's be real. The Idou runs Symbian Foundation OS right? Symbian Foundation OS that's not even stable enough for screenshots right? There is no way that thing comes out before next spring, quite dreaming.

The new s60v5 has the quick tap at the vos of screen that brings up wifi bluetooth and a bunch of other stuff in one menu. Just look at the 5800. N97 should have the same thing since i think its an os thing.
