*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I've been lurking on the forum for a while, but just an FYI - I just cancelled my pre-order with Nokia USA so that I could pre order with amazon ($100 cheaper and no sales tax!) and just for canceling the order the authorization for the whole order went through to my bank account again and they will not release the authorization for another 5 business days. Beware.

On another note - does anyone know if amazon charges when you place the order or when it ships?

Apparently we are getting conflicting stories now between the flagship store and the reps on the phone. Frankly, I would believe the flagship employees before I believe a telephone customer service rep. Here's to June 2nd :buddies:

all NOKIA phones do this. The browser WILL NOT accept any input while a page is loading. It's what's known as a LEGACY issue. It's been like that forever.

I imagine portrait will mostly be for phone and a quick SMS but that most texts and browsing will be in landscape.

One of my iPhone friends hates browsing landscape because his muscle memory is on the portrait mode and he gets wacked out using the altered dimensions on the landscape keyboard.

I know the PC argument was kinda shallow. I probably could have come up with a better example but I was kinda annoyed when I wrote that and didn't devote much time and thought to it.

I will have fun btw LOL

Facebook widget might as well be fixed too because it's not moving. Accuweather is going to be there too. I dunno bout Contacts just yet. I'll have one shortcut bar. We haven't seen all the widgets yet so I'll wait before I decide em all LOL.

Since the beginning I kept on telling you guys, you'll never see this phone in June, lol, some people (that i'm not gonna mention... although they like one particular color) refused to believe me but it's ok... Denial is the most predictable of all human responses ;)

So I'm putting all of my hopes for July... Because August... damn, that's starting to be too long... Will start thinking of actually getting an 5800 just in the mean time, to pretend to have an N97

Except that the RAZR wasn't a great phone. :(

Everyone was just obsessed with it being so thin (which was incredible considering what other phones looked like in 2004) but even other phones Motorola was currently offering at the time were better. The V635 for instance (one of my all-time favorite phones) offered better firmware, a better camera, more internal memory, MicroSD slot, better battery life. It just wasn't slim LOL

Not a single cell phone went off in the full theater for the midnight showing of Terminator Salvation last night. I think I saw one d- bag check his iPhone with the brightness turned all the way up, but no ringing cell phones (and no ignorant people shouting out) made for a very enjoyable movie experience that's hard to find these days.

That's simply incorrect. My husband's N85 and my 5800XM have the Ovi Store app installed, and I was able to install a couple apps with it. And we are in the US, the last time I checked. My phone is a Euro model, and his is NAM.

Right now the service seems completely slammed, I think they will have to add some capacity before it's working well. There are also some serious questions about cost, from the developer's standpoint. I hope Nokia will rethink their cost schedule for developers, or they will have lost the battle before they have begun.
