*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Same thing happens on my n95 8gb. The page loads half way then it disappears and starts reloading again. It sucks. What sucks worse now is the old tech processor Nokia is using in the n97.

If omnia hd has NAM 3g then I have a new phone. n97 is just a glorified n95.
Why would I pay more for less tech? Omnia hd will be cheaper then the n97 when released.

sr:

Sure man, I'm for it. You win. Active Standy rulez much more than 5 silly widgets. I'll tell them to get right on it and implement both since my man here said so on the interwebs.

Seriously though, there are several features that N97 has that 5800 doesn't. Starts with 32GB and continues (though doesn't end) with the sliding qwerty, as well as the reported general internet experience. I'm also a sucker for the lens cover. I'm sorry but Nokia leaving that off N96 just doomed it for me. Sure, widgets rate mention there somewhere, but I myself would put them behind the lens cover for sho.

Is that worth the price of 2 more 5800s? Are these release models or Star Trek versions with the phaser app?

Got off phone with Nokia CSR's....no phone till end of the month/early next month :crying:

:befuddled I thought it was supposed to ship TODAY

AND my Nokia pre-order page hasn't updated....still blank :befuddled

WTF is going on!?

Thanks, did everything except the hard-reset and free-d up almost 10MB. Not bad.

I only have 30MB left on my internal memory. I've installed some (most) of my apps on the internal memory. Google Maps runs much faster when installed on the internal memory.

N97 is targeted towards the mainstream and this device is probably going to cover the heavy users/tech geeks who want to play around with this kind of stuff.

As an n810 user, that is my least favorite thing about it. I'm sure the angle of the N97 will annoy me just as much, though..unless it happens to be just perfect for me.

There was the well-chronicled story of my A637 that broke into 3 pieces while I was taking it out of my pocket. That's the only major physical problem I've had with a Samsung. The other problems have been solely software based. The INNOV8 is buggy as hell and the tiny firmware update that Samsung put out didn't help matters at all. The Samsung Instinct is the worst touch device I've ever used (including video poker machines in pool halls. They have a better UI). TouchWiz is awful (especially if you've used TouchFlo 3D before) and I'm not looking forward to it on S60v5 seeing as it's not as mature as Windows Mobile. I'd actually rather use plain Windows Mobile 6.1 than have TouchWiz anywhere near a phone I'm using.

I was speaking in an 'at large' sense since Epocware already has a version of Handy Shell for S60v5, they might not deem it necessary to make a version specifically for the N97. However, another company may see the need for more widgets and take the opportunity to squeeze their own proprietary widgets onto our screen real estate.

Is it June yet?

Do you know what exactly they are trying to improve or change with these 3 future builds?

And RM-505... what was that again? Which region?

(Btw, lucky you... to get that opportunity :P)

Seriously bro. I've been talking about that retarded browser behavior for 3.5 years now. I can't expect any improvement in that in over 3.5 years?

I mean I expected such things to be fixed LAST YEAR. We only waited an extra year to see if the N97 has even 50% of the innovation of the phone it is trying to emulate.

Dude, it's the same old **** again. These things should have been fixed last year, and this year they are still not fixed.

It's just retarded at this point, one year late and still no real improvements. I can't believe this is the same company that made the N95.

I mean they went from clear leader to being absolute last in smartphones. S60 - been there done that. It's the same **** as it was 4 years ago basically.

People have the lowest standards if they want to use the same ****** browser for 4 years. Everything in the N95 was a start. It was just what it would be like to put everything into one device with 2004 technology. I saw it as a taste of what was to come or a platform on which to grow these capabilities.

Clearly Nokia saw differently. To them it was Nokia's RAZR, they could copy again and again and not really improve anything other than cosmetics and battery life. The N97 is of the same breed only 5 times cheaper to make today than it was in 2004. People will pay $700 for this? They must be delusional.
