*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Regarding fanboyism i really havent seen anyone posting here praising the n97 making irrational statements. I think everyone knows nokia should have used better hardware. Same thing with the OS. I admit i'm a nokia fan and like buying their phones. But the OS is seriously outdated. An example is why does the music player not have tabs along the bottom of the screen? A tab for each function like now playing, all music, artists, albums, etc. Instead its very linear, you have to back all the way out to get back to the main menu area. Since touch is now possible i cant see why they didnt add tabs like this.

This style could be applied across the entire OS. Think the settings menu, etc. It would make symbian so much better. Even the browser could have it. The new browser overlay menu is so much more useful but they should have expanded it even more in the browser.

Yeah seriously. I can't believe how otherwise intelligent people fall for marketing tricks. Like JBL speakers on a laptop. The company makes sound reinforcement products and professional monitors. They have no experience making ****** laptop speakers.

Some brands get resurrected like Altec Lansing which pioneered cinema audio decades ago. The current crop of crap which bears the same name has absolutely nothing in common with pioneering cinema audio nor are the designs even remotely similar.

Nokiots talk about this Carl Zeiss thing like it means anything. I can find you a camera that literally says **** on the lens that takes better pictures.

I could repeat this every day on these forums and some Nokiot will start chanting: Carl Zeiss, Carl Zeiss, Carl Zeiss the very next day. I'm going to hope that at least regular visitors get the point some time.

Well... yea... i guess i'll still buy it... :reallysad
I thought I could own a monster, but i guess it'll just be another regular phone. Well whatever, all i'm really looking for is a massive music and video player, so it should still satisfy my needs. And I own a SE K850i, so I'm used to lag :P lol (shouldn't be proud of that though when I think about it...lol)

The system memory is the same flash memory they've been using in their phones for years now. The 32GB is a SSD installed in the phone that shows up as a separate storage device on your phone. If you have a MicroSD card in your phone, that will show up as a third storage device. You'll notice that when you look at screenshots of Handy Taskman on the N97, the 32GB SSD shows up where the memory card information should be.

There is a screen lock switch on the side and also a proximity sensor (top left) that will disable the touchscreen (when it's next to your face and presumably in a pocket).

They are including an external stylus, apparently, which shows up on the cart summary.

adding time to the calling process?? is it really that troublesome to take a sec and look at the phone to press the call/end button? It's a touchscreen phone so your gonna be looking at the phone anyways to pull up the call log or contacts to make that call. Having used a 5800 for the past 2 months, i wish the call and end buttons were touch and not physical buttons.

The phone is confirmed to definitely have predictive text entry just like the e71. Allaboutsymbian got their unit and it has predictive.

But speaking of those guys, anyone follow steve on twitter? His n97 review is about to go up and he says he is underwhelmed by the n97. I'm very curious to read his review. They already did 2 q and a sessions so far.

wow good find on the NAM version. but it irks me that they couldnt just announce it explicitly. its like they are trying to hide something just like they have always done with these multi regional variants aka US 3G versions. who knows, maybe that website is just a typo/oversight and someone just hosted those specs "assuming" a NAM will come out.

i'm just so cynical and doubtful about nokia.
