*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Ha ha, you should see the complaining in the Apple forums about this. Some want a new case, some want 512MB, some want 5MP, some want OLED, some want better battery. They are worse than me and complaining about Nokia.

The sad thing is that these specs are more than twice any Nokia now except camera.

I don't think you can beat either Nokia or Samsung on the multimedia front.
 
Where to order N97 to get it quickest? Chicago Flagship store was the first one to get Nokia 5800 nam, I'm not sure about 2nd June, Same with E75 nam, they were the first one to get it. Omnia HD is already out, 800-900$ on ebay for 8gb. Couple of pre orders for N97 too on eBay. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for 2nd June. People actually flew to Chicago and Nyc to buy 5800 nam, they were disappointed by the faulty units. Good thing, I'm already in Chicago, vacationing so I might just get lucky to get my hands on N97, I'll surely put up review after one day of usage.
 
N97 Is gonna be to FRACKIN expensive!

Im more of a music and camera person..... So if i get anything I will wait for the N79 to drop in price or wait for the N86 to fall!
 
Thanks for that. I'm looking at a diagram of just the processor part of the MXC300-30. It has a separate block for the IPU (Image Processing Unit) but there isn't a 3D anything in there.

Next thing you know we'll be comparing how many cycles it takes for each instruction :buddies:
 
Actually it is. It's similar to when they could only make dual band GSM phones. It's easy to make a chipset that supports all the bands in the world but you also have to have an antenna that supports all of them too without sacrificing performance (call quality, signal strength, etc.). It's coming one day, just give it time. Remember when we got so amped for triband GSM then quad band GSM became the standard. Eventually they'll find the right balance but I'd much rather have a NAM version of a phone than have a phone that supports all bands but drops calls
 
The black one will also have the prints too.

It is true that on the first prototypes only the white one had the prints on the label but the second wave of prototypes had the print out on the black model too.

You can find pictures on the web, just search for it. If not I can post some pictures proving it as I was using the black prototype of N97 for a little while :cool:
 
Well, technically he's only paying $855USD but still, it's a lot of money. Even the $700USD Nokia wants for pre-order is still $818CD. Hell of a markup no matter how you do the math. Hopefully distribution centers for Dell, Amazon and Newegg get this phone quickly and we see the price drop from the Nokia $699USD quickly.
 
lets just stop the CPU war, it doesnt matter what CPU Nokia will use, we will still buy it in a heartbeat we are not here if you are not a cellphone addict, for now the 5800 will fill my addiction...

and come to think of it, who will not think twice again between the N97 and the Next Communicator when Nokia announced the Next Communicator come Feb?

and we will start another CPU war again... :lol:
 
You can also add. OLED doesn't display 'True' colors. All colors are over exposed and black is not Black, it is light brown.. saying from N85 experience.
 
Ouu, now it's my turn to directly reply to Sr1329 :P, ok first point:
1) Ok, i understand the MegaPixel game, and yea, i'll give you that, doesn't mean anything. Still, the N97 has a pretty impressive camera sensor, i doubt the Pre could capture better video quality than N97 (IMO)
2) Storage. I am a very very big multimedia person. I love carrying all bunch of movies and music, and when I get to ANY place with a television, or a PS3 for exemple, I could wirelessly (or wired) transfer my content on the big screen. So I like knowing whevever i'm going, I got a large music and movie theater in my content just ready to unfold.
3) Speaker. True once again, not that big of a deal, whenever you are in a big room, mono, stereo, HD speakers, won't matter at all, sound will be too weak to travel thru space. But still, when you're in a small room, stereo speakers make a difference (small one, but still)
4) People still live with old school mentality. It's time to realise we could have all our of needs fitten into one single device. Instead of carrying of bunch of stuff with you.
