*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Check 3.0, left swipe and THE KEYBOARD POPS UP AUTOMATICALLY (hint hint Nokia) type first two letters of a person's name and when I say instantly I mean instantly the name pops up.

The bad thing is that it isn't good enough to present the options right there. You have to tap it and it opens the person's contact entry (this takes about 2 seconds) and from there you can SMS, E-mail, or call. What I would like to see is also make appointment, write note, write to-do. I would ideally like to see those options right there on the Spotlight entry.

I think with the faster processor if the contacts page opens up instantly I would be impressed. There isn't room on the spotlight results but this is an area where I think gesture could rule. Up to compose e-mail, tap to call, left to SMS, down to make appointment.

Otherwise fast a pop-up menu like on the E71 instead of opening the contact page itself. You could have a green box on the right to open the pop up menu or tap the rest of the item to open the contact entry.

All in all, I just see so much potential and the capability of the developers to realize that potential.

wireless_gal is going to kill you LOL. I don't think the Naked News of the mobile industry will really catch on. Come to think of it, how popular was Naked News really? It didn't even have any competition

i too am still torn between the i8910 and n97.
blaxx, what build issues have you faced with samsung.
looking at the form factor, the current prototype builds look ok.
at least it will have a month or 2 on the market before the n97 so we can see how the user reviews go........

Don't think anybody really knows just yet. N97 is probally running tweaked version of ARM 11 and at least looking at the videos on youtube about web browsing and gallery it seems fast, but it's not yet the selling product and there's still months till it's released so we just have to wait to see how fast it really is.

Y'know, when you think about it. The N97 seems to have really dumbed down S60. I was reading the user manual the other day and came across the part where it states what requires a single tap and what requires a double tap and it's far simpler than the 5800

I wouldn't go that far. For a camera MP means nothing, but it won't be as good as on the N97.

Storage? My laptop has only a 32GB SSD and I have 2GB out of 8GB filled on my E66.

Mono speaker? Big deal. If you knew what the purpose of stereo sound really is then you would know the pointlessness of stereo speakers on a device. One good speaker is better than 5 little speakers. Set up a stereo system correctly and you'll realize.

Again it will work for a lot of people. The specs game is overrated in a world where we are going for refinement in human-device interaction.

I just got an email from Nokia for "Order Confirmation". It said that I'll get another email once they shipped it.

Good stuff... now it's all about the waiting game!

However, why is the backlight off? The sensor should read that it's dark enough to turn it on. I hate light sensors. I keep my E71 kb light always on when the screen is on.
