*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

At least you don't have to remove the battery to get at it. I actually prefer the phone having the minimum amount of buttons and ports on the outside of the phone. I really don't like the rubber covers for the MicroSD slot and MicroUSB port on my E71s

Exactly. No mobile phone should cost more than a netbook.
From now on, I'll have a hard time spending more than $400 on a phone when I know I could easily keep my do-it-all N82 and get a Samsung NC10 with that money.

Another person ONLY thinking about the physical Hardware and NOT what drives a platform; Software! Sure software is VERY important but it alone cannot fully enhance hardware its a marriage between the two. Its how the two: HW & SW; integrate and how the end user chooses to use them in harmony and how they enhance their lives/lifestyle/needs. Make no mistake, the N97 will be a smartphone to recon with in the massive marketplace. If HTC touch+keyboard models is anything to go by; ALL those users upgrade VERY quickly (TyTN, TyTN II, Touch Pro; prior to those was the clamshell WM5 device in Europe and the HTC Wings on TMobile & the HTC wing version that AT&T released 6mths prior).

N97's reasonable size in width comparison (between) from N85 vs N96
N97's performance amongst the two, using the same battery as N85/E71.
N97's homescreen widgets will be very interactive and inticing; looking forward to PyS60 based Widgets :D
N97's 16:9 VGA @ 30fps format option will be nice to edit on a Mac with iMovie.

Sure not much in hardware, but the software library for S60 5TH Edition native apps is intensely growing; thanks to the millionth 5800 shipped!

* I'm awaiting a pure quality: glitchless, non-pixelated; basically Smooth video conferencing app that supports Polycom, CISCO, or Avaya systems in Legacy mode (Tabletop) and this device truly will take off for business users.

Clear your cache, cookies and offline content, then open up your browser and go back to nokiausa.com, I've done it 4 times already and I receive the 525 price.

-Fine... forget then :P I am now on the 49th page...
-I'm greatly debating between white and black... hopefully more videos will be releashed in the near future, hopefully in full HD
-And no Blaxx, it is not JULY yet :P
(But apparently... something is saying we might have to wait just for MAY :O This is madness! Blasphemy)

Aww, only 10% now with the code and no headset.... hmm save's the shipping and tax and the hassle of trying to sell the headset. Anyone order it? Or do you think there will be better deals by waiting some more

Lol, I've still got hope, Nokia wont let me down in MWC 09! But I'd settle for those specs too! :D

:embaresse Lol, you are right. I've however slowed down quite a bit, so it's an improvement :)

Lol you should be the last person to say I switch phones fast!

Like I said I am being impatient but since all these devices will have a similar feature set - (relatively similar), I consider them all to be competition to the n97. I guess I will go down to the flagship store to check out the device as an earlier poster has done - just to satisfy my curiosity.

It's removed as of the last S60 User meeting in NYC around March 20 '09. The product Nokia manager said it himself; again, the quote I posted earlier.. "just because we can do it doesn't mean we will.." the product manager was refering to the on screen qwerty that he insisted on being removed.

Nokia is aiming to make the S60 interface easier for new users to adapot to and have been trying to cut down on some of the features that users don't use too often. They're trying to make a smartphone look dumb for dumb users. Not sure how this will play in the upcoming S60 versions...

You're going to have to search a lot harder to get TomTom working. IIRC, they never properly updated their S60 client to support the N95's built-in GPS, someone made it possible through a hack, and I don't think it was ever ported to S60v5. I've never tried to get it to work myself, I just remember reading it was a lot of effort for a very unstable solution.

Nobody is seeking anyone's approval. This thread seems to have transformed into a "OmniaHD vs. N97" debate so I was devising a way to measure the pros and cons of each objectively instead of subjectively.
If you don't wanna play, don't play. No need to be condescending. ;)
