I
do thinks it is fair, because the original question was simply which browser was better, it was all about what
can be done with the browser. That said, while the comparison is much closer if you decided to handicap the iPhone 3GS by not considering a jailbroken 3GS v N97 I still believe the 3GS still wins. Rendering speed, rendering the page faithfully, cut/copy/paste any web content, auto fill-in and easy kinetic scrolling through the page on a capacitive screen really sends it over the top. The iphone 3GS is second-to-none with browsing experience. That's not to say that the N97 doesn't have a great browser itself, it's just second best, that all
Sure you may have a rocker, but you can't tell me it wouldn't be nice to have pinch to zoom; again, a rocker not a bad solution, but it's still second best to pinch to zoom
I thought the subject matter was simply the browser? But since you brought up other things, lets talk :buddies:
N97, wins handily in the camera department, no contest
Removable v non-removable battery, never been a problem for me, in fact I like that the 3GS is one solid piece
QWERTY on the N97 blows! I actually prefer the virtual keyboard on the 3GS! Why? Simply because the auto correct is so great! It is about 90% accurate. The buttons on the N97 are tiny, the ones in the middle where unevenly dimly lit and no QWERTY in portrait. That was one reason I sent back my N97, I could type much, much faster 3GS than on my N97. Matter of opinion I know, but this was the reality for me
With double the RAM of the N97, the 3GS on edge is still much faster than the N97. It is only fair to compare the current flagship to each other. It's funny that Apple's year-old flagship is still faster than Nokia's current flagship in the youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeA12T1BoNc:lol: Add in browsing on wifi and the 3GS blows the N97 out of the water in rendering speed
OBEX, N97 handily wins, 3GS can't even compete.
5MP, N97 handily wins.
Physical vs virtual keyboard: I'll take my virtual auto-correcting keyboard over those tiny unevenly lit, non-auto correcting buttons any day!
Mass storage? Yup, 3GS got it.
Battery: N97 wins in battery life, but having a non-removable battery never bothered me in the least, personal prefernce I suppose. In fact, I enjoy having one solid unit
The 3GS multitasks much much much better than than N97! With double the CPU/RAM of the N97, backgrounder is a joy to use on the 3GS! All those widgets suck precious amounts of system resources from the small bit the N97 has. Leaving one or two things in the background seriously lags the N97, not a problem for my 3GS! I bet I could render a page faster with two or three apps in the background than a N97 with nothing running! Not even close 3GS wins handily!
Customization is a breeze with WinterBoard!
MMS not a 3GS issue, it's an AT&T issue, not fair to peg that failure on the 3GS.
Reception has never been an issue for me. I drive an ambulance in LA, meaning I'm in and out of hospitals all the time and I've never had any issues. Granted when I had the N97, it didn't have any issue either, the phones tie on reception.
Iphone does have voice guided GPS or turn-by-turn and on that larger screen it works wonderfully!
You talking flash in browser or flash for camera? Either way, N97 wins in both those departments.
Why would you need another browser with Safari? Skyfire on N97=FAIL! The low CPU/RAM cannot handle it, plain and simply it's jerky and crappy! Safari>Opera In fact, in most Opera reviews, the comparison normally pits Opera as "how Safari like" it is. I'll just use the real-deal thank youi  Plus not cut/copy/past of browser content, only in text input felids, N97
FAIL  ...P.S. who would of thought the iPhone would of won in a cut/copy/paste debate???
I don't know what Media Monkey is or does so I cannot comment.
Capacitive>>>Resistive. N97
FAIL If your on a motorcycle and you need to use your phone...
STOP and use it for Gods sake! I mean, you have to pull over, take your helmet off, and get your phone out why would it be so hard to take a glove off too :befuddled
Speaking of Hacking, S60 is a nightmare in that department! Signed vs unsigned and tons and tons of compatibly problems! 3GS offers Cydia, one simply, efficient and safe place to get all your hacked stuff. The amount of crap you have to trudge through to get something working on the N97 is ridiculous! 3GS is so, so easy! Open Cydia>find what you want>install>whala you have it! No hassle!
Also, you guys left out a few things. The Apps store pawns the crap out of OVI  Netflix client, ORB client, DataViz, movie show times, ebay, paypal, etc.
The email client on the N97 is atrocious! I'll take my good ole Yahoo with push any day!
What about push notifications? The N97 forces you to leave apps constantly running soaking up what little CPU/RAM you have on that thing, not so with the 3GS. The AP alerts me, without having to leave it running

How is flick scrolling on the N97? What? You can't? Wow that sucks, sorry
Yes, LAST YEARS MODEL. Compare flagship to flagship! The N97 cannot even beat Apple's last year model
Yes the N97 wins in the flash department, but if you think flash alone is all the matters in a web browser, well sorry for you than. Consider, rendering speed, how faithful the browser actually renders the page, cut/copy/paste of web content, scrolling on a capacitive screen, pinch to zoom and I'd say Safari is much, much, more functional. In fact, if flashlite is what is important than I'd say the N97 is the toy here, while the 3GS is the functional work horse
All things considered, the N97 is a great phone, that said, the N97 is still the runner up to the 3GS :buddies:
