*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I just wish they would license the D-pad from the Zune. I'd much rather have the normal flick up and down motion than the stupid roundy round Apple Naviwheel motion.

Samsung and sony ericsson both have multiple phones with 8mp cameras. Before you say "it's not about the megapixels," reviews have shown that the picture quality is improved.

Not only that, but both brands are actually incorporating new features for the cameras like facial detection...Nokia's cameras are good, but everyone has 5mp cameras now. And the carl zeiss logo on the back of your phone means absolutely nothing unfortunately.

Yea, it's true. I ended up with a Proto N85 NAM version a few months ago but was able to get money back.

eBay can be a mess to deal with so that's why I say "if you do things right."

When the N95 came out, I brought 3 fake N95 before getting my hands on the real deal and had over $2000 in AMEX dispute charges - all from buying fake N95s on eBay.

Those experiences made me a smarter eBayer; but still, there's always a chance to get con there.

Yes. Later versions of the N95 firmware came with an ASR option to enable/disable. When off the screen would rotate depending on the position of the dual slider. When on it rotated based on the orientation of the device using the accelerometer and didn't matter what position the slide was in. Similar to what we've seen in the N97 vids.

forgive my ignorance, but I assume that a MID is an internet tablet? If anything will be a mobile computer, it will probably be this device since it also includes quad-band GSM. Just wondering aloud why they didn't put this type of processor/memory in the n97 when they had the capability of putting it into this device. Just takes a bit of excitement out of recieving my n97 in a week :(

wait i've been busy working, so the new iphone specs were officially announce? and there was NO mention of new CPU hardware or double RAM or anything like that? i swear i knew it was gonna be the same old hardware with a better camera. but there were many people on here that were so sure that the new iphone was gonna have the killer hardware, like they just knew it to be so true it was a guarantee. i'm not a "told ya so" guy but i'm actually laughing right now. lolzzzzz

That's probably the most succinct, relevant, and thoughtful review of the N97 I've read yet.

I was afraid that the browser would have that problem. With my N85 and N95, the browser would be severely hindered until the page was loaded in its entirety. I love being able to move around on the iPhone and the XPERIA while the page is loading without the device feeling laggy or unresponsive.

All of those places mentioned were Ingram Micro warehouses. Dell uses them for their Nokia drop shipments, as I have received phones from both Mira Loma and Millington.

Yes, I bought a camera from them and they were an excellent retailer.

Sorry but OMAP3 is OLD technology ... powerful still but OLD! Its over 1yr old to be precise (only the 36xx which is on 45nm is new vs the 1yr old 90nm fabrication).

OMAP 4 is the hotness now ... 45nm with roughly 150x the performance and a LOT less power hungry with better graphics performance like native 1080p without a 3rd party chipset to augment like the Omnia HD is using with dual application processors - better than 1 in the OMAP3 (OMAP 4 = Cortex A9 vs OMAP3 = Cortex A8).

Don't think the mini N97 is the 5530 but a new phone entirely. Vodafone gets their own exclusives don't they?

So what's the verdict on this now? Anyone keeping track of how often the browser crashes, would you be willing to share? Does the music clip or skip when you're running the browser and the music player together?
