*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Blaxx, i don't know how much fun you had this weekend apparently, lol, but are you ok? Do you have a fewer? "low-end"? what is that? It does not exist in my vocabulary nor in this thread, lol :P

The thing that made the Apple iPhone so big is their app store..

Look at their ads on TV.. All they talk about is they apps for this, apps for that..

Last time I checked that's what a lot of S60 users envy about the iPhone. They also envy about the fluidness of the UI I am not skipping that.

I find this sentence very interesting:

"In February we are to see the announcement of a very interesting device featuring interesting possibilities, which is to come to the market as the same time, as N97."

I am sincerely hoping that they are hinting at the update to the E90, but we'll have to wait and see.

It's really not that much bigger, it's only noticeably thicker. At the moment, I'm failing to see what the N97 has that the N900 doesn't, and all I can see is Maemo instead of Symbian. Higher res screen, faster processor, more RAM, and will most likely run significantly less than the N97 (all of Nokia's tablets have been under $500 at launch).

Not enough room to list..but the one that is the most troublesome-since there is no firmware fix-is the qwerty keyboard. But that will have to be determined after its released. Amazing to me how we get to spend $500+ just to see if this thing is acceptable

Sure, I understand they can be changed in the middle of production with different revisions, but CPUs I think are a far bigger change. I think they have to stick with a Freescale platform on the N97 at least.

I hope this is my last response to any of you:

It doesn't matter if you used Symbian since you were born, this is just a mobile OS installed in many mobile devices like many others and they represent more options out there, if now you don't like Symbian then you can just get whatever suits you better and move on, forget about it because you won't lose money or anything in your life if Symbian dies, that's a problem for Nokia and their partners not for us. We, as customers, should invest our money in whatever we like more and let everybody out there make their choices, because there isn't a perfect OS that suits everybody, so don't be afraid get out there and look for your preferred one!.

Like Paul McCartney's song: "Live and Let Die"

Yeah.

Ok, time to start getting some accessories ready. Probably order them on Monday or tuesday...

I imagine they say this in all the manuals and it's aimed at the cheapo / knockoff cards, but:

I'm almost certainly NOT going to buy a Nokia card. Would the Transcend 16GB class 6 be Kosher/Halal?

Yes, because I already played that game in 2007 with the N95. As they say, fool me once...

And besides, who's twisting your arm to buy anything at all? As I said elsewhere, if you find the N97 to be the smartest kid on the shortbus, that doesn't mean you have to settle for it.

Nokia never retails anything in Canada without a carrier so I'm not surprised. Now I have to contact my boy in CT and find out whether he's willing to do some turnaround shipping for me.

You got that right. My laptop has a glossy screen as well, I would have cried if it had the blurry crap anti-glare screen.

The 5800's screen wasn't bad, but I'm still expecting the n97 to be a small step up from that.

Just sell it. S60v5 isn't fully optimized for touch yet that's true but I think they've taken some good strides with the N97. You guys are really good tho. It's hard to get me to keep a phone for a full year.

Few sellers got n97 ready to ship on eBay now and damn look at the prices. All of them will be shipped from HongKong with no proper warranty, I'm gonna wait for Nam.

I disagree. I think that the N97 will be an excellent phone to use for many different things. First of all, the N97 is an excellent internet phone with a super large 3.5" inch touchscreen. You can use this phone for internet, emailing. texting, instant messaging, ect, ect.
I purchased this phone mainly for using it to make and recieve calls and for the internet and for texting and instant messaging. Just these things alone make the N97 an excellent choice. Most people who are going to buy and use the N97 are not techies or computer geeks. They will be regular people like me who want to own a phone which has a big enough screen for being able to surf the internet and to text and instant message. Most people in here who are *****ing and moaning about all the negative things that the N97 does not have are in the 1% minority. I think that 99% of the people who will purchase and own the N97 will be very content and happy with the phone and with all of its capabilities and options that it offers. Overall, the N97 is an excellent phone.
