Over the course of even the N97's production cycle there have been probably a dozen different versions of it, all of which were updates from the previous model. If they do the same thing they did with the N95, then they'll follow the early adopters complaints, continue to update the same model, and when they have a revision that's large enough to be salable, they'll release it as a reworked version of the original. It won't be a "new" phone, it'll have the same model number with a letter or number attached to the end of it and it will cost slightly less than the original did when it first came out.
