*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

One of the pictures in that slideshow makes the keyboard portion look like it's silver...honestly it looked nice and i'd buy it if it released like that.

The closer we get to receiving this..the more I realize I probably placed my pre-order out of 1) Curiosity for the "newest" flagship..2) The "glitch" in the pricing on nokiausa, and 3) my N95 is 2 yrs old and I've never kept a phone that long. If not for the pricing glitch, I'm not sure. The N95 has been such a great device that I have a feeling the "for sale" portion of HoFo may be busy a month or so from now..

Europeans do. My best friend in Germany, first thing he asks is how many grams?

Me I prefer heavier bulkier phones, for two reasons, easier to find, and bigger screen.

While I can't exactly agree with how you are saying everything, I did not have to read any further than this comment.

iPhone is NOT a smart phone. If a reviewer considers it a smart phone, they are clueless, based in the US, or were paid off.

Just because the term "smart phone" has been expanded by US-based companies, bloggers, and reviewers, does not make it true.

I get so sick and tired of hearing how the iPhone is an awesome smart phone.

A great UI is the ONLY thing the iPhone has, period. Aside from that, the *device* itself offers no other advantages over any phone on the market at its level and even a few below it.

Just like with jail breaking it. If you have to jail break it, then it is no longer an iPhone and you are unable to compare it to anything.

Outta the box functionality should be used for comparisons, nothing else if trying to compare phones at base levels. You want to start talking about available applications, customer service, etc. people need to really start digging deep and being thorough, or don't bother at all.

I wouldn't say clock the device to it's limit, but maybe put a little more punch into it. Say setting it from 434 Mhz to 500 Mhz wouldn't create too much instability.

I think companies don't want to make a product too good or durable; so that consumer will need or want to get a replacement quicker.

well the camera shouldnt move BACKWARDS in quality. i dont remember the n95 having too much trouble with light sensitivity. and everything i read about n97 said its algorithms having been improved upon. i'd like to see more shots but hope this isnt a major issue. n97 camera is my main purpose since i have no camera.

IMO New iPhone is not gonna be major update hardware wise, from what I heard from my friends and colleagues who are heavy iPhone users is that they don't wanna give up their 'jailbroken' iphone with tons of hacked free apps for a 3.2mp camera and 32gb capacity for A LOT more price. iPhone3g 16gb unlocked still retails for 700$, Don't get surprised if you see next gen iPhone locked for 1600$ on eBay in July/August.

Yes I know they are morons... but yet... you could have the phone right away... No need to wait for shipping or nothing, you pay and you walk away with a N97, unboxing it as you walk... and get jumped at McGill Metro if you do it publicly, loll :P

Damn, really eh? The only beef I have with the n95 is how thick the device is. I just don't think I can pocket a device that size especially after pocketing a e71 =). I'm already worried about the n97. I guess the n86 would be the proper solution.

This thread has opened my eyes a little on the phone (n97). I will definitely be a bit more cautious about getting this phone. I will wait for more in depth reviews on the finished product and user feedback on this thread.

I'd be very curious to see exactly what "last-minute improvements to keyboard feel" were made after the phones had shipped with final hardware. Really, I'm not being facetious at all.
