What are we all working for Nokia's PR department and only allowed to praise any Nokia product to others even if we don't think it's great? Just where is the sense in that then? your taking being a Fan Boy to whole new level previously only exhibited IMO by SE fans.

Sorry i loved and used many S60's from 2006 till late 2008 and then Nokia IMHO just stopped delivering truly great devices. The last one that i was proud to use and own was the E90 after my N73, N93, N95, N95 8GB E61. All of those devices when released pushed the boundaries of performance and what we could expect from our devices at the time and used the latest and most advanced technology available. But since then Nokia IMHO and many others to have stagnated just giving rehashes and not advancing any further.

Who prior to MWC would of thought Samsung would show a more advanced and better specified S60 device than Nokia not me for sure.

The N97 revolutionary you got be kidding just what is so special about it the huge storage that's the only class leading feature i can see it has. Now it may turn out to be a good device and i for one am reserving judgement until i get to use one my self. But it could of been just so much better and yes I'm going to talk about the processor the thing that made most of the S60 devices i used so special and class leading. I know most don't care about what processor is used but if you understand the advantages that the new OMAP 3 processor has and what it brings to a device. You would understand why the Omainia HD and Palm Pre are far more exciting then a N97.

Although many are happy with their E71's i wasn't the screen was small and not good enough IMO the 2.5m jack a pain the lack of a good enough processor for Video Playback and the few other niggles i had with it. The best thing about the E71 is it's premium build materials but i don't buy a device to try and impress others with a shiny new gadget i need it to work for me and that's why i chose a Bold instead.

I don't hate Nokia or any manufacturer but i also don't love or blindly follow any either quite simply I'm a prosumer i chose and buy what suits me best and offers me the best value for my money. I'll come back to Nokia as soon as they have something as good or better than anyone else but not before. I have no interest in their OVI or Mail services that require me to use their devices or lose the service yes it's good for Nokia to keep you but not quite so good for freedom of choice for the user. Now if the S60 fan boys can't bare to read any criticism of Nokia and or their devices well sorry but that's just unrealistic and self defeating. Limiting yourself to just one make is seriously flawed it may be your preference but to exclude all else just on a badge is crazy IMHO but each to his own i suppose.

Whilst i may not agree completely with all Sr1329 says i do a lot of it personally i wouldn't and couldn't use an iPhone for love or money the spinning clocks drove me insane along with lots of other things about it. Their really is no ultimate device that will satisfy and be best for everyone and i doubt there ever will be either.

Well technically the screenshots are real. They are of a real clone, lol. Noticed how the default language of the unit is Chinese, then English. It'd still be fun to play around with, I'd pay 20 bucks top for it, lol. (Is that legal though...?)
 
Clearly, Nokia N95-4 or the Nokia E71 are not Nokia phones. And they are definitely "years" behind.

ATT still has nothing that high end compared to Rogers. If anything, Roger's is on the cutting edge in North America(only).
 
So apparently the die hard fanboys would have to wait until 2011 for a decent (capacitvie) touch phone from nokia. :lol: Lets just hope there are no delays.
 
When I see these ads, the one thing I keep thinking is... if I didn't know this was a phone, I wouldn't know it was a phone. I mean, this could easily be another internet tablet... the ads almost make it look like a small laptop, not a (supposed, but failed) uber-phone.

Thank you for enlightening us. I am still trying to understand the details here in your answers.
My first reaction is
If Nokia will try to charge us a fee for upgrading to the next release of Symbian OS in order to make it profitable for them I can pretty much safely speak for 90%+ of us in saying that we will say yes yes yes and pay the fee as long as it is around the same price as a program that we will buy off of Ovi store and we are seeing videos of the new OS.

I mean realistically if Nokia is saying "nawww, were not interested in doing the work it takes to stick this new Symbian OS on to your old phone unless you pay us" the majority of us will be willing to pay the fee if it is at the same level as what is charged for an Ovi store program.

But frankly with all the money Nokia is going to be raking in at a 30% commission rate from OVI store i think they should just do it for free.

The direction Nokia seems to be going in is form factor value so I imagine the next phones will be weird super convienent form factors like billfold wallet form factor, Bracelet form factor, etc..

I don't see any kind of logical barrier or reason for resistance to sticking the latest Symbian OS on the previous form factors. Especially if they can charge 30 bucks or something like that and they are also making commissions off of Ovi store.

I understand you are a Symbian member and not Nokia but I just don't see a "for profit" business reason to not put these new OS's into the phones when they are selling us $$ on form factor and also $$ 30% from OVI store.

They still make a profit. It doesn't matter any which way you look at it even if they do it for free they still come out as a win win win situation for them.

I mean if for example the next N-series N98 or N99 looks like some wallet form factor with a flip down two part keyboard that hooks together and it is using Symbian^3 and we see videos of it and we (70% of us) are impressed with the OS we see,... what is the harm in letting us upgrade to that newer Symbian OS on our N97?
There is none.
Especially, especially, if the new form factor is appealing it will just make us want the new form factor even more once we are playing with the newer OS on our present phone.
I am just making the argument that Nokia should make available the newest
Symbian OS FOTA

It's just like the SDK. It makes you want the next product.
 
SE Walkman phone > Anything else that plays music IMHO

I can't get on board with SE because of a lot of little things that their phones don't do but the first time I used the music player on my old w300i I was blown away by the sound quality.
 
I just received an email from Nokia. The email appears to be the exact same order confirmation email form when I preordered an N97 weeks ago. This time, "status" is blank, which is promising that it no longer says "back ordered."

Did anyone else get another order confirmation email?
