*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

i'm quite impressed by those pics quality! maybe my memory is bad, but they look extremely clear and sharp compared even to my old n95's.

It worked for me in the emulator but isn't working now. It seems the program "peninput" crashes out. When you compose a text message in portrait mode you tap the text area and it should bring up the keypad for T9.

None of the people I've met using an S60 phone were aware that it can run apps and they also had no idea how to install or use the advanced features on the phone. That's the main reason I consider it more of a techie-oriented OS, I mean the basic features are there for people to use just like a dumbphone but anything beyond that is complicated for most users.

That is one of the things I hope they tackle with symbian foundation, they need to bring it up to the level of user friendliness that android and apple have achieved.

Also blaxx, I don't really think OSX is a cute sounding name and yet I hear people screaming and giving their everlasting love to steve jobs for it. I agree the name does help but S60/symbian aren't dangerous word.

Snow Leopard is mostly bug fixing and optimization rather than new features. Not sure what you're expecting to rock so much. It should make a nice tidier and slightly quicker. Speed has never been a bottleneck for me, at least for me since I have the higher tier 2.5ghz with 4GB and 7200rpm HDD.

But I never buy operating systems anyway, Windows or Mac. That's something a computer either comes with or I put linux or FreeBSD on it.

Not sure what you mean... there have only been preauthorizations IIRC. Definitely still worth it, at least until someone else comes out with something that's not WinMo and has a big touchscreen and QWERTY with no less than 5mp camera with flash.

Interesting conversation, but it really needs to be crystallized to what is important to the individual and people in general. Nobody liked the poor battery life and constant out of memory errors, rebooting issues the N95 had when first released a couple yrs ago. So let's wait and see what the N97 brings...After 4800 posts and still 2-3 weeks until it's released, nobody is going to solve a thing arguing about devices that haven't even hit the street yet.

For me, pre ordering has given me time to reflect, and if I hadn't got lucky with the price glitch I really don't think I'd be on the pre order list. I just hope the 97 is more than just a stepped up N95 that you have to turn sideways to type on. Frankly the N86 is way more appealing-if they were releasing a NAM version at the same time as the N97 it would be a more difficult decision for me

Can anyone confirm how M4E handles security policies? I know on my 5800 it will not handle a lot of the security policies, but, on the E series devices such as the E71 it works no problem.

And this still saddens me..I don't understand why T-Mobile shot themselves in the foot by adopting the 1700MHz band....Now I have to switch to AT&T to use 3G on the N97...

Nothing really high tech... I bounce between a 6650 and an older HTC S710, which I use primarily because it has a keyboard and because I've hacked/tweaked the heck out of it.
