*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

The strange this is that this hasn't happened on the last 4-5 phones I've had, and they've all been S60 Nokias. I have no duplicate names on my sim and no duplicate names in the phone memory (I just sync with outlook), but i do have duplicate names if you compare the phone memory AND sim card together (hope this makes sense). I'm going to try deleting all sim contacts, leave the phone contacts and see if that helps.

I agree with Truth that N97 doesn't offer anything new. Same old 5MP camera, LED flash. Physical keyboard on a N series is the only excitement!

I've used iphone/itouch, amazing capacitive screen but unusable with gloves and other objects, I simply hate taking my hands out of pockets in cold. Both screens have pros/cons as it is with every electronic, overall I think with any touch screen a hardware/Dpad should be there & resistive screen should be made more responsive even though it requires firmer press. I know touch screen cell phone sales have increased drastically as more and more touch screen phones are being developed, bravo LG, but still IMO 8 outta 10 people prefer hardware buttons, touch screen could be amazingly user friendly if it's done right, e.g iPhone, but I was unable to use iPhone/iTouch faster then N95,n82, text messaging one handed and while driving is so tough with touch screen, although I did pretty good with Nokia 5800 due to T9 :)
I hope Arnold Schwarzenegger is not reading this :D

For me touch screen should have Dpad and responsive T9 single hand operation.

Stop saying August!!! For once in my life, I never wished I was this wrong, fighting agaisnt Blaxx with June VS July, lol. From the looks of it, still seems like we'll have it in July, but I really hope Blaxx was right all along...lol

Yes, Canadian based retailer. Their store is just outside Toronto. I'm not sure how they are with shipping anywhere, I don't think I've ever met anyone who bought something from them but it wasn't in person.

That's always been my favorite thing about SN Traders as opposed to the other SIM free cell phone retailers in Toronto, they have a website that they keep updated and actually have phones in stock most of the time. A couple bad experiences have left an awful taste in my mouth but I wouldn't say I'd never buy from them again or advise anyone not to, just keep your guard up.

I wish it had more ram and better processor...rumored iphone is going to surpass it. Nokia rolls out phone so slow.

Do you guys think this thing will be really good at web browsing?

What about the hinge? Does it look weak to anyone else?

I wish I could just sell my 5800 now but I got no phone that on bar with similar feature :gps, wifi! By the time I receive my N97, the 5800 will drop real bad  even I only paid $200!

Back to N97, I believe it will be a good device with Nokia build quality. The only device I want to look at right now beside N97 is the new Iphone.

Maybe that wasn't a glitch after all, but a testing of a lower price. Very nice.

What is this retail distributor? AT&T wireless? Best Buy? Who else carries Nokias regionally?

The problem is that newer faster cpu is actually more efficient battery life than the older one in the n97. So it would have helped battery more than hurt it. But oh well n97 will still have great battery life regardless.

You mean on the Eternity ;)

The sensitivity on the Eternity was top notch IMO. When I first used it, I couldn't tell if it was capacitive or resistive, that's how good it was. You can easily navigate using the pad of your fingers, not your nails like you do on the 5800. It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to navigated on the 5800 using something other than nail/stylus.

Also lets not forget about the tropical weather down there as well.

The Emulator does not come preloaded with widgets installed, only shortcuts to applications. You can use the mouse to do things like swipe the homescreen away and use the kinetic scrolling in the browser which is pretty cool.

After the page loads, the sidebar usually goes away. I didnt see an option in settings to disable it though using the emulator.

Oh believe me, i have contacts set to open conversations as my default so when i press conacts button, it goes right to my threaded texts.. I absolutely love this setup in terms of efficiency. No matter what i'm doing on the phone, that button goes directly to read and reply to a new text.

And i really like convo being integrated into contacts. It is the main center of all the major functions i perform with the phone. And its all instant. Also gizmo, and then nokia chat is in integrated there as well. It makes the e71 a super efficient communication device.

I just assumed s60v5 had an updated version of convo. I might have made an impulsive purchase mistake. But honestly all i want is the same thing i have now with that high res screen, and better multimedia supprt...oh and louder speakers during a call. So i figure i cant go wrong with a 5800.
