*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

It's decent but due to the nature of the tech involved in fm transmitters it's not even comparable to the quality of a good auxillary connection.

(as in every fm transmitter, not just nokia's implementation)

Plus, most new cars nowdays come with 3.5mm inputs on the dash or somewhere in the car...

Blaxx that is arrogant.... lots of people are out of work right now. Im glad you have a job, but no need to question our situation when its hard out there for a lot of us.

Yes it is arrogant and if that surprises you, you haven't been paying much attention to my posts. If you're expecting me to say sorry and promise to be more sensitive to the plight of others in future, I'm afraid you have another thing coming. If times are so hard for you perhaps you should sell your E71, your PC and stop dropping money each month on an internet connection instead of worrying about the way I carry myself on a message board.

His problem as well as mine is that you think that you know everything, as he said maybe you got lucky and had a good CS REP but some of us did not, what we said was not BS but the truth so are you calling us liars???? Maybe you should keep speculation to yourself unless you have proof that we lied!!!

I am looking to buy a new US version N86. A few posts earlier someone indicated Nokia had pulled all N86s from the US Market. I also see that Amazon no longer carries it. Any suggestions on where else to look for the device?

Maybe it's overrated to you, but it's pretty damn useful for a lot of other people, like me.

@wirelessgal
you're not gonna find a better camera on the W995, in fact, it's worse than the one that the C905 has.

You can easily find an N85 for about $300 if you look hard enough...

...I think the N86 will command a higher price given that it's superior in almost every way to the N85. It's price should remain steady for a while, at least longer than the N85. And the N95-4 was a great phone to began with (unlike the N85), hence it's price hasn't really dropped off too much.

The N97 looks like it does take better pictures. I don't know if a software update will fix the issues with the N86. I have to say I'm very disappointed in Nokia once again. This is suppose to be their "imaging phone" and they should've got it right in the first place. If there were issues with the music player or any other area, I can let it go for now, but come on! So I'm going to wait for the SE W995a. Although it is not SE's Cybershot phone, there is
no high expectations for it to take excellent pictures. I want it for the Walkman Player. But I'm sure it will still take great pictures.

Finaldecision, are you going to keep your N86?

Yes I know, I paid 275$ on eBay for N85 with live cash back, I was referring to MSRP. If you get n86 for 300$ ever, let me know, I might still be around on HoFo after 2 years and buy from you :hehehe:

Quick question...

For those of you that ordered the N86 from Amazon.com, did it come with an English keypad only, or English keypad with Asian strokes?

Sorry to hear about your issues..

I recommend doing the hard reset *#7370# then doing a F/W re-install using NSU.

If issue still persist I say you have a defective unit.

All North American Version nowadays are China Made.. The last NAM units Ive seen that are Made in Finland were the E71's.

Yeah, you'd have to go with T-Mobile for the N900. I'm perplexed why Nokia has done this. It seems like they always go with 850 and leave out T-Mobile. It's a surprising reversal for such a significant device.

I don't think the N900 is any bigger than the N97, since you mentioned considering the N97. The N900 is 110.9 x 59.8 x 18 mm. the N97 is 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9 mm. Pretty similar.

The N900 just seems so much more interesting, with it's open Debian Linux Maemo platform. I already gave my reasons, about why it's a water shed device. Nothing else out there comes close. It's the first thing that's tempted me to go with a large screen touch device and derailed me from my plan to get the N86 (once prices come down a bit).
