*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

josexi, I understand what you are saying. But apples iphone division only has to concentrate on one thing. The current generation of iphone. If nokia only produced one phone a year, they would probably be able to tell you when it would be released.

As it is, Nokia produces dozens of phones a year. Most of which we dont see, hear about, or even care about.

i think you should just try it, att has 30 trial period and you need to see for yourself if the device is worth it.↲
There are many who left s60 to try other devices to find out there is not much of a difference, yes they may do some things better but they may lag in other areas its all user preference.↲
There are many here who tried the iphone, bold, fuze g1 and came running back and there are others stayed and like the change , so hi suggest you try and see if these other devices or companies are really that far ahead.

the last time I played with this phone..

Just curious-have you or anyone else with the phone been able to install Conversations 9.20? It's in the app update folder in the applications menu.

If anyone updated please let me know! I have questions :)

Echoing the thanks for the write-up, Nikki, that was really helpful. The photos have put to rest any lingering concerns I had about the camera.

I was under the impression that the little diagonal button on the phone face was the multimedia key, or are you referring to something else?

Anyone have a problem with www. Webpages with tmobile? I have the 9.99 plan for Internet. Everytime I go to NFL.com or mostly any site. I get you must upgrade your account.

I figured it out. I had to go to the web settings and switch it to Internet.

Yeah that was the issue. I deleted my email account on my phone but I was still getting an active connection. I had to delete my Nokia message trial account from their website to finally get it to stop.

Give me a break, like what a night landscape shot? You can't expect a point and to even attempt such a shot. Well with a tripod and a long shutter you can try and sometimes even get decent results, but I digress.

What about indoor night portraits? You say that some even with a flash cannot take a decent shot. Imagine that same ****** camera without a flash or with an even ****** LED flash. You basically prove the point that point and shoot cameras typically have inadequate flashes even with Xenon flashes. Put a ****** LED flash and you suddenly think you will get BETTER performance from it?

By the way the optics and sensor on the N86 are at least 2 generations behind the shittiest of digicams that you mention. Point and shoot cameras and especially phone cameras need all the help they can get from a light source and LED ain't going to cut it.

I can't get a decent indoor portrait from the N95 and you're right that I could not from the Canon S200 or sometimes from the SD300, so you think some puny phone camera with an LED is going to have a better chance here?

Do you think they went into the future and brought back some technology from the year 2025 to put in here where the optics and the sensor is so good that all of a sudden a tiny sensor half the size of the smallest point and shoot sensor equipped with a lens half the size of the smallest point and shoot lens and an LED flash with about a tenth of the light of an Xenon is going to all of a sudden take good night shots?

If anything you've basically stated to not expect this N86 with Xenon to be able to take decent night shots. Basically all phone cameras and most point and shoots are not capable of decent night shots is your point. Which can be true depending on whether the subject is moving or not.

Besides what do you consider a decent point and shoot? One that can take decent night shots? How much does it cost? Half of the price of an N86? Maybe a 3rd? I will assure you that the entire camera assembly on this phone does not cost more than $30. So I'm trying to see how you think this thing will have the optics and sensor quality to surpass a $250 digicam with a senosr half the size and a lens half the size and a flash with 10 times less illuminating power.

Some basic science would help around here instead of hype being thrown out to excite the people who don't apply a basic 2 seconds of thought to what they read.

For the NAM with internal name RM-485, these product codes I've seen listed.

0590552: N86 8MP RM-485 North America US Athlon NA Default
0589620: N86 8MP RM-485 Telcel MX MX Indigo V1
0590464: N86 8MP RM-485 Telcel MX MX White V1_COLOR

Whether these Telcel variants exists I don't know. There isn't any white NAM that I'm aware of.

Anyway with v20, macro mode is significantly better. It never worked for me on v11. White balance, focusing, and blur have improvements I've noticed.
