*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

THANK YOU! Somebody that understands that Xenon is NOT the end all and BE ALL of camera phones to take quality pictures! Sir, today you are Knighted!

 this has to be one of the silliest comments I've ever read. Have you ever owned the N82? You don't truly understand how valuable xenon flash can be on a cameraphone unless you've owned it. It's not just for those "important events" of course, it's for those unexpected moments that end up being amazing photos, the ones that you least expect. Xenon flash makes sure they don't come out blurry, grainy, and washed out. I've never been a "picture person" in the past, but since I got the N82 a year ago I've taken literally thousands of pictures and captured so many moments that otherwise I wouldn't have. And by the way, the N82 even does good at those "important events", just in case you forget to fully charge the crappy digital camera batteries. With that said, maybe some people just don't need to capture unexpected moments, thus making the N82 invaluable TO THEM. That should have been your comment.

Now, I've yet to determine if the N86 can holds it's own against the N82. I really really really want to try this device out, I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Multiple Email boxes on phone primary reason for getting E75.but since N86 has similar Email client will be going for that. Your right about me liking sliders though. Also the smallish screen on E75 makes my old eyes blurry.

I actually like the look of the N86. Definitely improves on the N85. I like the single design front faceplate, the less glossy surface, the battery cover which looks like it has more of non slip feel, the kickstand, and the faster processor, though still slower than some of Nokia's recent models with 600 Mhz.
Though I've never had any issue withe N85's keypad with my large fingers, the N86's keypad seems to be an improvement. The multimedia buttons look vastly better than on my N85. I can barely hit any of the multimedia buttons on the N85.
The higher megapixels isn't a big thing for me. I would rather they add image stabilization.
Where's the S60 menu button? Is the angled button the menu button or is that still the multimedia button?

Congratulations to all u guys waiting for N86 NAM :buddies: .. Enjoy this beauty.. and yes dual slider will always have some play here & there , if not now then down the line sometime. In N86 its very very minore btw. Center press on Dpad is pretty good atleast for me.

Not sure if this was already mentioned, but did the NAM variant of the phone get passed the FCC yet? I'm tempted to buy the euro version, but I know I will regret it cuz of the lack of full 3g

The N86-3 does not ship with the video cable (nor does the Euro version). The NAM version will only access AT&T's 3G network. On TMO all you're going to get is the Edge experience. (Which isn't really that bad except for video streaming).

Media keys are odd. Feels like they should not be there and only complicate the design, but they do transform the the phone into a very horizontal friendly state. Good for browsing, gaming, photos, etc....

I don't think it's the gps. Google maps always finds my location within a few seconds. Just started maps and took about 30 seconds, haven't started my gps in over 24 hours prior. Now if I go back, maps will find my location in about 5 to 10 seconds. But google maps always finds it in seconds no matter what.

Has anyone noticed on the NSeries page that the famed & loved SMS, VoiceMail, Missed Call notifications are on the home screen of the N86?! Its definately looking noice!

internet radio gives me no issues so far. i went into the music folder, selected internet radio, connected over wifi, agreed to terms of use, went into directory and found an alternative rock station and selected it. i just fully shut the app down and restarted it and it works fine

Well I guess I got lucky. I called them and just asked. I said I could send it back and then rebuy, but I really liked that this one worked and was built well. The Lady went away and came back and said they appreciate my business (I buy a ton with them) and they gave me refund for the difference.

YMMV
