I'd say it's noticeably better than the N82, but nowhere near as good as the E71. Did a test at someone's request, and with the N86 connected to my home network and running Gravity nearly all day, a little downloading via SymTorrent, some web browsing, and a few texts and phone calls, the N86 made 24 hours with 3 bars to spare. I had to charge the N82 every night, sometimes earlier than that with heavy VOIP usage, but I find that the N86 usually still doesn't need charging at the end of the day.
Sorry, they're DEFINITELY nowhere near as loud as the N95. I even think the bass was slightly better on my N82. I can't really compare it to the N85/N96/N97, though, because to be honest I'm not much of an audiophile and it wasn't one of the things I was particularly interested in. Audio quality through headphones is good, though!
On another note, I noticed a weird quirk recently: the backlight on the slide-out keypad seems to just refuse to turn on sometimes. A restart doesn't always fix it. Not a big deal, and it doesn't happen all the time, but it's STILL annoying. Also, was curious to see how many text messages it would take before the N86 started complaining it was out of memory, and the magic number was about 1,100 text messages for me.
