*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

T-zones was t-mobile's $6 internet plan. Port 80 was blocked and required a proxy. T-mobile internet was the $20 internet, different access point, no port restrictions, could tether, etc. T-zones was made for dumbphones that just did the wap browser thing. But me course people took advantage and realized it could be used on smartphones, just a proxy was needed, t-mobile even provided that proxy.

When a nokia phone sees a t-mobile sim it loads up those access points. You can just delete them since that information is so old.

A new firmware would be nice. Some camera improvements, browser updates, and I will be happy.

I've always loved slider phones and the n86 looks to be their best to date. Its a great looking regular PHONE. But that screen res isn't gonna work anymore for me.

Anyway nokia will never get left behind because they have too much money and industry experience. It just depends on how long they stick in their stubborn ways before they wake up.

While a FW update can surely help, given that this thing is positioned as an imaging device and is the first to house an 8MP snapper (for Nokia), they should have nailed it. And they did not.

Long live the N82...at least until a FW update for the N86.

waiting ion it also, even though i have pre ordered the n97, just think ide prefer the n86 so much more. love my litttle n85 and the 5800 just collects dust. :buddies:

Ya, right.
Maybe some people get lucky, but they have been known to tell people things like "let it come ups and deny the package".

They tortured people with cancelling 5800 pre-orders.

I havent used the iphone 3gs but browsing the internet is better on there?

I think the convenience of having the full screen and full keyboard seperate can't be matched...

The 3gs has its keyboard come on top of the internet browser right?

i think you should just try it, att has 30 trial period and you need to see for yourself if the device is worth it.↲
There are many who left s60 to try other devices to find out there is not much of a difference, yes they may do some things better but they may lag in other areas its all user preference.↲
There are many here who tried the iphone, bold, fuze g1 and came running back and there are others stayed and like the change , so hi suggest you try and see if these other devices or companies are really that far ahead.

Are you sure, he was saying store everything you can on the memory card. And people were talking about the microSD card.

That aside, what's the C drive? Is it a partition in the internal 8Gb? Separate memory from it?

like most user they wanna know what does it do. not whats under the hood. they dont wanna know what the OS its capable of doing their fan base wanna her is it the iphone killer or not. i like phone dog but i think they need to go with a more bigger more mature audience.

I have had the 5800, N95,N96 and the N85x2 which I just sent the N85 back to Amazon and the other one I gave to my daughter, and from what I have seen the N86 has them all beat, I have watched the video's of the N86 and the form factor is great and I do not believe that any of the other phones have a Scratch Resistant Hardened Glass Face, that in itself is a feature worthy of having this phone!!!

Just wondering if i'm missing something obvious here.

Iv had my N86 for about a week now, iv updated to firmware 11.043.

I noticed on a review video on youtube, the N86 they were reviewing had fading menus:

I cant for the life of me find an options for fading menus on mine!

Anyone have any info on this? Or is it not included on the latest firmware?

Cheers, Alex.

Just a couple of update and a request. 1. I sent my phone back got an exchange with amazon. and the new unit is TIGHT... its GREAT... love it from a build quality perspective. 2. I also called amazon and they gave me the $70 refund too! so win win.

What I am wondering is if someone could email me video that comes loaded on the phone seen below

I had that video but i wiped by and reformatted my memory. Is anyone willing to send it?

IMO, PhoneDog is more of a general site as opposed to a site like AllAboutSymbian or SymbianFreak which are clearly targeted sites. They cater to the group who doesn't delve too much into phones not offered by any of the big four in the US. Not that they don't try to cover unlocked phones but Noah does a piss poor job at it compared to other bloggers.
