That does help. I notice if I try GPS in the same location (ie. my house) it eventually locks after quite a few tries. If I try it somewhere else it takes 10 minutes and sometimes does not lock at all.

Chris: We expected it would be shipped at least by the end of september, but it wasn't, and we were recently advised that mid september for sure

I guess we'll see, I think that if mine is not shipped by then I'm cancelling
 
How's the earpiece volume on this phone?
Is it as loud as Sony Ericsson K850i?

and yes v2.1 is hackable, but you need to flash firmware i believe
 
As Ive said.. I had this happening to me..

Heck I even tried to play around with it and my Internet Radio disappeared.

I downloaded and installed the N85 version to what I have and after it installed, my Internet Radio app is gone.

Tried re-installing my F/W using NSU.. Nothing happened.. Tough to crack this UDP.
 
I have a Nokia NAM bought off of Amazon just last week. I downloaded the file to my mac, sent it off to Symbian signed with my IMEI went through a couple emails or so. Downloaded the signed version back to my mac, right clicked and then sent to bluetooth device, it showed up as a text message on my phone from which I installed and it worked immediately. Not sure why ours would be different, it is certainly possible though.

Nice. :2thumbs: At least Nokia has perfected the fine art of getting their handsets into the right hands at the right time! At the very least this means that everything Nokia is saying about the image sensor is much more than just a sales pitch. And the N86 is still on early firmware...

I know there's a blogger/journalist out there with an N86 in their possession. PLEASE do a Samsung INNOV8/Sony Ericsson C905/Nokia N86 head-to-head ASAP!
 
I was at a wedding in OCT with my new N86 NAM at the time, and wanted to take pictures during the ceremony. Couldn't because of the loud, annoying shutter sound. That's why, not because I'm a perv or "chester" as you call it.
 
Oh, then it doesnt really matter which kids I take the picture of, since the picture will be dim, I can just tell people "thats my kids, no really, it's them, you just cant see them because I didnt use a flash"



I would just take the picture with my N82.




Well then perhaps nokia should just produce a high end DSLR and duct tape an old nokia 3510 to it and call it a camera phone. It would take the best pictures of any camera phone on the market.

I will try to make this as simple as I can for you. Nokia has produced an exceptional camera phone, the N82. They included a xenon flash on this phone and it has been dubbed the king of camera phones since its release. Nokia has now introduced a new phone, the N86, that many are saying is new king. I disagree. While the lense may create better pictues than the N82 90% of the time, the lack of xenon will miss the 10%.
This is the basis for my complaint. For me it is a step down.
I cant wait for this phone to be released to see the true side by side comparison in all lighting conditions.

149 g vs 128 g (so N86 is larger & heavier by a small margin).

J2ME API's HUGE difference:
N86 (N85 does have those listed above but the updates made in BOLD, the N85 doesn't have.)


Flash Lite 3.0 vs Flash Lite 3.1
Camera Focal Length: 5.45 mm vs 4.61 mm (unsure if this is better)
F-Stop Aperature: f/2.8 vs f/2.4 - Large and variable aperture: F2.4, F3.2, F4.8

Larger buttons. Camera is already good on the N85 so no need to state the MP's but its the Aperature and Focal Length i'm curious about.
