*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

Despite the website description, J&R is selling the US version. They ship the same day, and I received it UPS ground the next day. $499, no tax, free shipping. I just got the package, and called them to discuss. They are crediting me the $30 to match NewEgg, and also are going to fix the description.

I suspect they may adjust their pricing, but if not, if you call they are generally very good at matching competitors. I have done business with them for years, and they are great!

I would think a shutter speed of 1/1000 seconds wouldn?t produce blur. I know what you guys mean because I was getting blur when I first used it. When I had the camera still with two hands and got better at holding it, it would go away. In camera settings, you can restore settings to default values if that helps.

Hard reset for the phone if I remember right was *#7370#
The default security code if you haven?t already set is 12345. I think you can also simultaneously hold the talk key, 3, and * to do a hard reset while the phone is OFF, then turn the phone ON while the other three keys are still being held and keep them pressed and wait. I haven?t tried the second method.

Formatting can be done through the file manager under the applications folder.

Nikki (or anyone else lucky enough to have the N86 already) how is the battery life been on the n86 now that you have had it for awhile? Is there a noticeable difference between the n82 and the n86?
thanks

I meant it felt like I was using 5 years old mobile tech which almost is.
What has changed from the N95 of almost 4 years ago? Nothing. Boring.
After playing with the Diamond2, Touch Pro2, Omnia2, HTC HERO, Palm Pre, iPHONE 3GS etc...and see some of the new cool and fresh devices about to drop, like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iz3LKPAK9w it is hard get used to or get excited with the same old again.
The E72 front qwerty, ease to navigate and looks makes S60 more tolerable.

I'm not paying $400 for ANY phone in that store. I can get a HP Mini 5101 Netbook with that dough.

Pretty sure its on the bottom too, I think all of the antennas are near/on the bottom. I saw it on the FCC pics.

I just want my MF phone so that I can have a chance to smother the antenna.

Dude, I am from India and we still dont have 3g here :p What I said is very much true of 2g usage pattern.

I am onto ver 11 for a very long time. Changed my product code to euro1. Image processing algorithms have improved in ver 11 for sure..

just looks at all of steve's nokia reviews.

even those that he slaps upfront, he apologies later on and says that it's the best thing since sliced bread. :D

On my old phone (non-s60), when using non-T9 text entry, there was a key (I think it was *) that would advance to the next character. So, for example, if I was typing "cat" and had typed the C, i could push this and immediately push A after, rather than waiting the 1.5 seconds it takes for the input to move away from the current character.

On the N86 though, the * key brings up a menu, with 0 being space and # changing the input mode.

Is there any quick equivilant for non-T9 typing, or is it just meant to be more of a pain in the arse?
