*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

K, back on topic.

Camera works usually now but an hour ago it didn't. I've formatted the memory card and the phone's mass memory. There's something I'm not doing right maybe? When you connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable, there's four modes: PC Suite, Mass Storage, Image Transfer, and Media Transfer. Can I transfer captured images while I'm in PC Suite mode but using Explorer. S60 Handset is listed under My Computer. That's how I've been transferring my images. Is that what's causing my problem with the camera? Should I just use Mass Storage and the problem will go away? Why are there so many modes if you can see the memory in explorer in PC Suite already? Seems redundant.

Anyone who gets the phone I recommend turning off the stupid sensors. It doesn't work perfectly and consumes more battery. To rotate the display, just use the sliders. I also recommend changing the slide handling options to your liking because the default setting may be annoying.

Which version are you using? I tried 1.1 and didn't like it.

If the white becomes available at a sub $400 price within the next month or two I am considering jumping on that, otherwise I'll continue the waiting game.

Will anybody with the new firmware (20) let me know if their N86 takes shots with less blur? I'm really close to sending mine back to amazon. It is way harder for me to take a clean shot with this phone than it should be, it happens mostly when the flash is needed. I never had any issues with my SE K850i or C905 (probably due to the Xenon). I think this thing is going back to be replaced with another SE K850i (it seemed to me to have a better build quality that the C905)

I got my replacement N86 from Adorma today. It has the new lens design, with the square opening. Happy about that, assuming it's an improvement. I guess this is supposed to have an improved shutter key too (did I read that here? I can't remember). I'd say the shutter key is slightly easier to use, maybe, but it's not a huge or obvious difference.

I'm sticking with v11. No bugs so far that bother me. Integrated GPS works better so far than in v20, although it's still pretty slow to lock (but I haven't really tested it that much yet).

I don't have a problem with the autofocus. It's fast and seems precise. I do miss the feature from v20 where it shows you what spot in the frame it's focusing on. But not enough to upgrade and get the broken GPS and kepad tone problems.

What with Omnia on WM type devices, and OmniaHD with great specs (still no Xenon - but you don't see WM fans complaining en masse) but HORRIBLE battery life to enjoy them.

OK Thats it.

1> Who here that has used cellphones/smartphones for more than 6yrs can tell me of 1, just 1 service that was free for SyncML of your contacts, calendar, and notes that was NOT part of a corporate service offering that lasted more than 1 year?!! Myrealbox, and others didn't make it. For so long I wanted this to backup my phone. I didn't always have a computer either. Ovi offers this and so much more. You're using the apps now but their not in sync "converstations being rebirthed, other apps etc"

Personally, I've found call quality to be better than what I experienced with my E71 and N97, and right up there with what I experienced on my N79. Very few, if any, problems using the N86 in my case.

Very good picture

Hope most of you guys are on ver 21 firmware, on NAM that is .. I have found ver 21 to be pretty rock solid with great performance all round. Yet to find any serious bug with it :clapping: ,, what are your impressions with ver 21 ? Are you having any troubles with it? If yes then pls post here ..

highly doubt it. Thats their job to help you. And its not your fault that you receive bad phones.. its between nokia & rogers. So yeah, i would just keep sending em back till you get your desired phone!

They are taking way too lon to release this in North America. I haven't seen any ad of the N86 anywhere. It's not even in the list of devices in Nokia's own WOM World site.

Laggy - you try to open and app, file, answer the phone, etc.. and the phone is less than responsive. I've got a touch pro right here at my desk and my E71 runs circles around it when opening a word doc and editing it. How sad is that?

HTC already puts pretty large batteries in their phones. My touch pro has a 1300 mah battery in it. By comparison, my n85 has a 1200 mah battery in it, yet, my N85 will do more and last much longer. The problem isn't the size of the battery, it's the resource-hogging OS that is WM. Of course, needing to run the touch-flo UI band-aid doesn't help, either.

I guess HTC could drop a 2400 mah battery in its devices, but, then they'd be 3 inches thick. lol
